Since my seasons have been going from bad to worse to "here's you P45, dont le the door hit ya on the way out" terrible I have completely changed tac in my style and formation and am gonna start again playin a completely different kind of football - ala Argentina, the posession game, with a creative maestro as its figurehead, Please enter Mr Juan Roman Riquelme
Now using Liverpool you'd think that investing in a 29 year old currently wasting away on the Villareal bench is kinda silly when you have Gerrard and Alonso in the middle of the park, but I say to you is it? old 442 and 4231 just aint been cutting the mustard my friends, 2 many goals conceded, not enough invention, and why do I keep buying Quaresma? he's muck! I should just have put Hypia on the right wing!
Sorry for ranting, I have a condition, anywhoo, has anyone actually worked with Juan Roman in 08 and if so, is he any good? Or will a cynical 2 footed lunge form Michael Essien be the end of the little magician? Thoughts please

I gave Riquelme a miss, him and Aimar were both available for free transfers at the end of my third season but the outlay for wages and the fact they were both 30 put me off, better off investing in youth.

to be honest he has never even made my shortlist on 08 because of his age, van der vaart wins hands down each time, just because he's younger and has practically the same ability with the potential to go on to be even better. Apparently he's a tad injury prone (vdv) but i've never had him out for more than a fortnight. He even made it to 21 goals in second season!

I had him in my team in the demo and he did well for me. I wont have in my team anymore though as some of his stats just put me off. You look at all the technical stuff and he's amazing no doubt. Most of the mental stuff is good as well except thats he's a little chicken. I dot like that in my players. Also his team work and work rate are very poor. That is probably the worst put-off for me. And to top it all, he's not quick at all and is too darned injury prone as well. So I give him a skip most of the time. Unless I need him as a backup (I trick him by offering him "rotation"!! ).
Anyway, why not give Van der Vaart a go? Or even Matias Fernandez? Infact, you can put both these two in you team very easily and the total wont be anything more than 25M at most. You could line up:
I cant see you not scoring with that lineup. Maybe a better striker would serve you well. Pandev is available resonably cheap (13M) at the start of the game. Or bring back Owen. OR you could get Adriano (although I find him difficult to work out). That'll give you 4 of the most creative players in the midfield and 3 of those being fluent scorers. And then you have Torres who's excellent as well and Owen who can be your finisher. Cant see you go wrong with that.
As for leaking goals, well you really need a better CB than Hyppia! Get Barzagli who's again a bargain at the start of the game at around 12M. It just depends on Liverpool's transfer budget.

Kuyt Voronin and Crouch are out the door my friend, along with Sissoko, must be able to pass and more in my vision of a Liverpool side - looking at 2 up top from Torres, Huntalaar, Babel
Pennant probably going 2 as I wont be using wingers, but attacking fullbacks, and il have kewell and babel in cast I ever take the urge to go wide, had van der vartt before, and he was good, just fancy tryin something/someone different

I was struggling to find a decent AMC that scored goals. Then Riquelme came in for 5m and he was absolute dynamite. 25 goals and 20 assists from about 40 apps.
Noice.

a good playmaker for you depends on ur budget.
If U cud get 100++ mil bughet left, u cud try for kaka ,ronaldino .the obvious choices. If not get some one like Silva who cud play wings as well or maybe messi who u cud get around for 45++million or u cud get kevin prince boateng of u dont hav much cash. He is quite good in my game representing germany for euro 2008

If you need a goalscoring AMC, Lulinha in my third season has 28 goals from 36 apps, teamed up with Huntelaar as a lone front man makes an excellent pairing Toshack - Keegan style.

This will be from the beginning of the game, I was uncerimoniously sacked from my last game, and I hate that "new manager - take over team- continue" lark, champions leage final, beat by Ajax 6 in the league (with 70 points!!!) I should have resigned!!!
So its a new drawing board, a new style, and some new players - Riquelme - Huntalaar - Alves- possibly someone who can cover as a am and a winger in case things go to hell- maybe Menez?
Also has anybody tried the Luxenbergo 4222 formation? would it be more affective that 41212?
