(summary credit of Wikipedia)
The Association Sportive de Monaco Football Club is a Monegasque football club, founded in 1919. They became a professional club after 1948. Although the club is in Monaco, it has always competed in the French football structure. For this reason, it has always been regarded with a certain suspicion by a segment of the French population. It is one of the most successful clubs in French football, with seven league titles and five French Cup titles. It has also had some successful campaigns in Europe, including a run to the final of the UEFA Champions League, in 2004, but it has not won a European competition.
With the board expecting you to challenge for the title after two years, and with the poor transfer budget (even if you have high expectations) i would advise that you use the first season to consolidate, and finish in the top half of the table. Use the Cups to gain silverware, and hence offer a large cup bonus, but a normal league bonus.
The squad is ok, but not great.
You could do with another top class CB to cover Monsoreau and Bolivar.
The assistant manager points out the midfield to be weak, but, if you play the right formation, you can make these players work for you.
Up top, with only two strikers, i'd suggest at looking here to stregthen if you can. Whilst both Piquionne and Koller are decent, neither are top class, and with Koller soon to retire, you are going to need a great striker if you want to beat Lyon's stranglehold on the division.
So, finally, Good Luck, and bring success back to the Principality

Firstly, i got my 1st team sorted
4-3-2-1 (R-L)
Roma - Cufre, Bolivar, Monsoreau, Berthod - Meriem, Perez, Bernadi - Nene, Menez - Koller
I let Menez and Nene have a free role, and set Koller as a TM (BTW, both Menez and Nene are prolific). I set Nene and Menez to have forward arrows so the formation kinda turns into a 4-3-3. Finally, i set them to switch positions with each other
I set Perez as a DM with a backward arrow, and Meriem and Bernadi as just CM's
With the squad at the start, you have 5 non-EU players, so you have to sacrifice one. I sent Juan Pablo-Pino on loan to Getafe (and after 2 years he will gain Spanish Nationality!)
Transferwise, rather unproductive. I signed the free agent Hatem Trabelsi as cover at RB. Hes experinced and doesnt take up a non-E spot. I also loaned Diego Capel (Sevilla) and Hamed Namouchi (FC Lorient) as baclup AM's and Daniel Ljuboja (VFB Stuttagt) as a backup striker. I signed Franciss as a youth team player, from a Bucharest club (hes in Nigerian u-21's if you want to look) but i was very dissapointed as i missed out on my #1 Target, Kristoffer Haestad (IK Start) - he would have fit so well into my midfield!!
It was difficult to find players on the quickstart, but when the full game is out, i should hopefully find some gems to boost my squad for minimal cost (including re-signing Mohammed Kallon who is currently a free agent)

Anyway, started the demo again (want as much practice as usual). Happy with my 4-3-2-1 tactic but am now looking at a more defensive tactic for such occasions...
Looking to sign Haestad (will be a key player, a high wage would help) and also David Gigliotti (AS Saint Ettiene) - a new Trez?
Also looking at Leonardo (Ajax) but his work rate/team work dissapoint me!
So yeah...play Monaco!
