I have a corner or free kick or throw up by my oppositions area, i always have 2 players whether it be the centre backs for throw ins or full backs, free kicks and corners, set to stay back. One of the opposition players procedes to run the entire length of the pitch, no exaggeration, unchallenged down one of the flanks, and then beat my keeper at his near post. Jus had it happen against Bolton, i am Pompey. Joey O'Brian; Pace:12, Acceleration: 12 is the player that runs the whole length of the pitch. I have just analysed it several times and, quite rightly Glen Johnson and Hermann Hreidarsson are back in my own half as O'Brian begins from the Bolton penalty box. Glen Johnson; Pace: 16 Acceleration: 15, Hermann Hreidarsson; Pace: 10 Acceleration: 10. Richard Hughes is in close persuit of O'Brian. His stats; Pace: 14 Acceleration: 15. So why does O'Brian receive NO challenge from his penalty area to mine and then is allowed to shoot, with no challenge and beats my goalkeeper, David James, at his near post? Whats more, O'Brian has to dribble the ball. If he beat Hreidarsson and Johnson on his way to goal then i would be happy to concede O'Brian had an acceptional moment of footballing brilliance in the 93rd minute to win the game but that point is he outpaced 3 players two of which are faster than him and two of which had 30 yards to make up their mind whether to go and challenge him.
