If I filter to look at central midfielders in my squad, a player who can play wide left/right or up front is included.

I am guessing that this is because he can play in midfield, (left/right) and he can play in the centre, (SC), but he can't play MC which is what I'm asking my Ass Man to show me.

Erm, good for you. I'm not really sure what the point of this thread is? You're not asking a question or making a useful observation. Considering the amount of things there still seems wrong with this game how about we don't use up forum space with a pointless thread?

QUESTION. Why does the position filter option not work correctly?

In addition to asking a question, I am also pointing out to SI that this is a small area that seems to be continually overlooked with each subsequent release. So in fact I am asking a question AND making a useful and helpful observation.

I'd have said it was a fairly helpful observation. If you're going to use the search filter, which I suspect many users fo, you want it to work properly.

I have also noticed the filter not doing exactly as I requested. I suspect the filter is designed to be very broad, and not specific (as we would prefer).

Yeah, it's doing what we ask but in a very basic way.

I am ticking midfielders and central players, so the game is allowing players on the list who can both play in midfield and centrally, (as in the above example), but what I actually want is specifically players that can play in the DM/MC/AM position. That's not what we're getting at the moment.

I would magine the eason lies in the change of the way player postions are done from FM06.

In FM05 and before, this wouldn't be an issue, as positions were done by place on the field and side.

For example, the player you mentioned would be a M/S RLC, and there was no such thing as a player who could play in midfield and as striker, but not in central midfield.

I would expect that when the player position system was changed, this was perhaps something that was overlooked?
