Not to be picky, but women do compete against men in tennis... Mixed doubles anyone?
Anyway, I still don't think it'll happen in football. There's no reason for it, its not a sexist thing, its just purely separating male and female players.
In terms of money there can be the debate over whether women should earn as much as men, but in terms of whether women should play alongside and against men, I think its a no go area everywhere except for the playgound.

If they made a Womans Football Manager nobody would buy it.
It would be the worst product launch in history.
Did you see the Womens World Cup? What would the stats be like?!

It would cost a lot to produce.
I don't know one person that watches women's football week in, week out.
I see the same people every week when I go to watch Stockport County. I'm not ignorant but I haven't got a clue and couldn't care less how our women are doing this season.

Putting women's football in the game would be a lot of work for very little return tbh. It is not just the matter of getting all the dat for new leagues but also simulating the difference between men and women, e.g. physical differences, development, recruitment/youth system, financial model, etc... In other words practically everything wiuld have to be done twice.
After all this work it would be nothing more than a gimmick and would not really encourage many more people to buy the game IMO.

when you go in the editor, there is a tick box to make a person female - but I've never used it, doesnt seem to work for players, I'd imagine it was for the likes of Delia and that bird from Birmingham

Nope.
It wouldn't be able to interact with the first team so there wouldn't be a real point in it.

Guess how many guys would pick a female partner if the had a choice, and guess how many football teams would select a woman player if it was allowed....
