Since the patch, I have continued my previous game and have played just 5 matches so far in the premier league (after the patch). I am in year 2011. Before the patch, I thought that the number of shots per game was high. Don't care about shots on target, don't care about ratios or finishing. Just the number of shots

After looking at the other teams, the amount of shots in those games is realistic. However, my games are a complete joke. I looked on http://www.365stats.com/ to see how many shots happen in real life. I never found a game with more than 16 shots (admittedly I only looked at about 30 games). However, for the last 5 games, the least amount of shots I have had is an amazing 25. 5 games in a row, and the least is 25?! This includes 36 against Chelsea. I looked at real matches and I didnt find more than 16 shots in 30 matches.

My tactic is a very attacking 4-4-2, high tempo etc. Hardly get caught at the back (the maximum amount of shots against me is 12). In those 5 matches I have scored 9 goals and conceded 4. Drawn 2, won 3.

I will update this thread with more stats. 5 games is perhaps not much, but I have to sleep so I can't do any more matches.

I read several times that this combination of tactics produces a lot of poor quality chances. Try making the mentality less attacking and slow down the tempo.

Well this is the problem. I don't want to change it because I'm dominating so much that I can just about win because at least some of the shots must go in.

And I find it ridiculous that a high tempo gives poor chances. Look at Arsenal and Man Utd in RL. They play with a fast tempo and they have the highest number of goals! I have come to hate comments such as "a high tempo makes the players rush shots". For Christ's sake, why would it?! It shouldn't happen.

However, I do want to return to the main topic which is that there are simply too many chances every match. Somebody show me 5 matches in a tow in RL with 25+ shots and less than 3 goals and I will admit I have it wrong.

The FM match engine isn't real life, and never will. Is it realistic? I no longer care.

I'm just trying to find a way to be successful in the game as I don't enjoy being unsuccessful. To that end I use a less attacking, slower, tactic than I would like. C'est la vie.

Just played against Charlton.

Me - 33 shots, 15 on target, 2 goals
Charlton - 6 shots, 5 on target, 2 goals

My strikers had 16 shots and 8 on target together. How many goals? None. This proves it isn't my midfielders taking ridiculous long shots.

Yup, that's pretty much what happens all the time when you play an attacking, high tempo, tactic.

Got the same with my Yeovil. I got Dong from Man Utd. I have like 23-30 shots every match, my opponent maximum 10. And the score is most likely a draw..

Try setting Counter Attack, but keep all the other tactical settings the same. This seems to help.

I agree, if you play high tempo and your striker has good composure why should he miss?

Take the 2nd goal england conceded wednesday, quick tempo and a good finish.....he'd never have scored it in the game.

It seems to me that SI can't be bothered (or it will take too long) to reduce the number of shots. So instead they reduce the goal ratio which I find ridiculous. Also, there is no reply from them so I feel very hopeless at the moment.

And I know I can play low tempo defensive football. I've done it with my team before and it worked. Unfortunately that re-ranking crap comes and I have to change tactics.

Also, I feel wierd playing low tempo with Man Utd. They play fast in real life, so thats how I want to play. Also, its ridiculous that high tempo never works. Why even have it in the first place?? Why dont SI just have slow tempo if they have made the game so that high tempo never works.

Common sense guys. Its what FM lacks.
