I aplogize to anyone if im inaccurate about my assumptions because I haven't played fm 2008 yet.i would like an answer from SI about certain issues before I purchase the game or at least be told they are being worked on for future versions.
1)I think the tactics system needs to be simplified.Looking through the forums I still see formations with defender mentality 5, midfield 11, and so on.IMHO I think the tactics need to be simplified to just 3 settings of attak ,defence and normal. Also t I constantly see people complaining of how do you get a striker like rooney to drop deep. Some say, reduce mentality, some say barrow(Which only works when without ball) but there is no dfinite answer. I would like to know if there are now options to specify "Play in hole" or is the only alternative playing a berkamp type player as an AMC?
2)My other concern is even with the excellent patch that has been released(Just looking at the fixes) there is still complaints of the number of chances missed. Firstly people dont realise one-one chances are harder than a keeper on his line as he closes the angle, so chances do not get taken. But my point is that there needs to be a far greter variation in one-on-one chances. In FM 2007 the player through on goal simply shot at a keeper 99% of the time. I would like to know if players round the keeper(a la henry), chip the keeper or perform tricks before shooting. This is probably why world class strikers miss the same chances as average strikers in the game, there is no variation.
Apart from certain aspects of the tactics I feel the games have steadily inmproved. I just find all this linking of theories and maths proof that it needs to be simplified to actually simulate real life tactics.
I would like to hear from SI if any of these issues have been looked at or are being worked on for future versions.Obviously other user's opinions are also welcome.
