Im having problems with this crap. We shouldnt have to do this!! This has to be a failure, think of all the people that arent like us! The majority of the world and the people who bought this game dont come here on this forum to know there is a patch or even know what a patch is. I bet 70% of people that bought this game dont know about this patch and 80% of people will never DL the patch! Now im having problems, you know what release the game with facepacks and make sure the game is finished the right way for 2009, so i dont have to spend hours trying to do it!

II DL the patch then i double clicked it and it said unzipping then when that was done a message said ERROR:Could not locate football manager 2008 installation folder please browse and open fm.exe

what do i do here the only option is to browse, i clicked the sports interactive folder and it didnt work it said something like couldnt find my installation folder, what do i do?

Facepacks aren't there, because SI doesn't have the licenses. To get the game right the first time SI would have to hire many more testers and release a game every two years. So far they've worked hard and delivered the game every year even if it took a patch to fix some bugs, but compare this to PES2008, when Konami released the patch and for some time nobody knew what the patch was supposed to fix, because they haven't given any statements.

People (including me) are trying to help you in the previous thread. Throwing a tantrum and cluttering the forum with more than one thread for the same problem is likely to get you less help, not more.

I would bet you my copy of fm2008 that 95% of the ppl who bought Fm2008, knows about the patch. Those 95% are the faithful gamers that know all about the series and the patches.

Have you ever experienced a game that didnt need a patch?

When you browse to the folder containing fm.exe, you should point it to Football Manager 2008, not Sports Interactive..

Well seeing how i only play console games, no I dont usual deal with patches. And theres not a chance that 95% of the people know or do the patches.

My brother is a 34 year old Division 2 college coach he loves the game and will never know about it or even try to do it and either would my friend. so thats 1 out of 3

So they wouldn't try clicking the updates button on the main menu?

They don't need to know this forum even exists to get the patch.

Actually I would be happy if they decided to release a new version every two years instead of yearly.

I have friends who have played this game for years but do not download patches coz they are unaware of the sheer amount of errors. They just live with these errors because they don't visit forums like these to find out the true extent of the many problems FM has.

I was honestly horrified to read that absolute monster of a list of fixed bugs from the 8.0.1 patch...

Do you really make this game SI, or do you just send the instructions over to some little kids in Thailand?

I don't think people realise the amount of testing needed in a game like FM, especially to iron out all the bugs before release.
The only reason you hear about so many on here is because there are thousands of people all playing it at once and i'm pretty sure SI don't have the means to employ thousands of testers. Ok, they could delay the release of the game but then threads like this, from people like you would turn into 'When is FM coming out' 'Why isn't it out yet' 'can't beleive they haven't released it yet' threads. Go and play CM or somethin i'm sure thats much better.

Out of 5 people at work none of them download the patch unless I tell them to.

Just because theres a long list of bugs doesnt mean a) they notice them or b) they ruin the game for them.


If you hadnt read the list how many of them would you have even noticed or been affected by ?

Dont get me wrong theres one or two that were really affecting my enjoyment but lets not make mountains out of molehills....
