Default Changing a Player's ID

I have pics for my whole squad except one (ex youth). So I wondered if it was possibe to change my player "XXX" (ID 28010777) blank face with another random player selected pic (ID 2002020), So that I would have a face to my player. Is this possible? If so, could someone advise how to do it.

I have managed to add the following to my config file: <record from="magnay" to="graphics/pictures/person/2002020/portrait"/>
But does not work. Posssibly I have to find Simic (AC Milan -ID 2002020) add delete/change his ID?

Any help would be appreciated.

Don't change any ID's - just link Simic's picture to your youth player's ID. Sorted.

Look in a ready made config file (from a facepack) and follow the format.

Cheers. Will try later tonight & let you know how I get on. By the way he's not got a facegen, but I think I get the drift.

No luck so far - don't know what I have done wtong.
I edited "Simics's" picture and renamed it "Magney" and dropped into my Chelsea team. Then edited the config file with: <record from="magnay" to="graphics/pictures/person/2002020/portrait"/>
But it does not work - puzzling. Presumably in theory I could change all the Chelsea players to the same face, yes? Obviously I am doing something basically wrong, perhaps someone with experience can help. Would be most grateful.

was the line added. Have spent ages trying to sort this out. Then it dawned on me that the prem managers were appearing in my game and I had not moved the file to My Docs.....FM2008/graphics. The file was still in a 'holding' folder within my docs. Does FM search the whole of the My Docs folders? So I have spent another hour deleting everything I can find that I have downloaded (after checking/moving) to FM graphics. One final query; As a test I went into the Arsenal config file and altered the ID No. number relating to Gallas on purpose. Restarted, and Gallas appeared a normal! How can this be? I have searched for and additional copy of the file "premiership" (which holds all prem teams) to no avail - yet FM must be getting its data fom a another source somewhere. Any suggestions as at the moment I feel like slinging my computer out the window!

The captial "M" is what concerned me ...

Yes, the program looks in MyDocs\FM08\graphics first. If it doesn't find something it wants there, it goes to the .fmf in the install folder and gets it.

FM will only look in MyDocs\FM08\(whatever) for what it's looking for, and the folders and files have to be named exactly the way it wants. I have several odd files floating around in my various folders named, for instance, titlebar_orig, that the game ignores.

I was just starting a new thread out of desperation!
The capital M was a typo. I simply copied simic's pic renamed it magnay and added it to Chelsea then added the correct line (above) in the config file. However as a test I altered gallas's ID No and deleted sidwell's pic completely, yet the game displays both pics. So I am convinced the game is sources its data from elsewhere, but for the life of me I cannot figure out where!

OK

I suspect you've just totally confused yourself with the idea of changing the player's ID. You want Simic's picture to appear for Magnay yes?

You need Magnay's ID (28010777 according to your initial post).
You don't need 2002020 - I presume that's Simic's ID - forget about it.

Get Simic's picture and rename it whatever you want - magnay would work but anything else would too as long as it matches the config file. Put the picture in the same folder as a config file containing the following line:

<record from="magnay" to="graphics/pictures/person/28010777/portrait"/>

Thanks for persevering, (perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the id nos), However, what you described here is excatly what I did. Yet no joy. Furthermpore as a test I deleted sidwell's pic yet it still shows in the game. By the way, I noticed that prem manager pics appeared in my game before I copied them to the graphics file!
