okay, ive played with this formation for awhile already. decided to bring it foward to fm 2008. this is my assessment.
Club: Man Utd.
1st Season: Charity shield, Fa Cup, Premier League & Champions League.
1st transfer window : Rafinha(10.5m)
2nd transfer window : Asamoah Gyan(13.75m) Out : Mikael silvestre (3.3m)
Total transfer in for 1st season. 25.5m Out: 6m
Goalscorers: Rooney(30) Tevez(27) ronaldo(22) Anderson/Nani(14)
I started off with a very direct game.
Mentality - Medium
CF - Low
Passing Style - direct
Tempo - Fast
Width - Narrow
i wanted to be cautious and test this new game. i started watching the games on Extended highlights. plenty of opportunity and goals. games were very fast paced due to the tempo. 60-70mins into the game my players are at around 75% condition, plus minus.
It was pretty obvious, we were capable of 1 touch passing, which was what i wanted to achieve. Pass and Run, find space and pass.
so i started getting use to the system and implemented a new order about 10 games into the system. the same layout but this time.
Mentality - Normal
CF - Low
Passing Style - short
tempo - Slow (will go high if i need to chase a game)
width - wide
i notice my midfielders were keeping more possession which i lacked during a direct game play. we started producing some excellent plays. then i started to implement target man and playmaker options.
my playmaker option is always ticked- all 3 amc to be playmakers.
I want the ball to be passed asap to the 3amc, and with high creative freedom, they were basically everywhere on the pitch. opponents cant deal with that, not even with an dmc sitting. during the 2nd half slump, i was winning but not as convincingly. i would play a TM and set to head, as usual. with the 3 amc on high CF again. always work well with a tight team. started bulldozing my way to the league and eventually the treble.
the interesting part is my 2 MCs, are set on DIRECT passing. yes not the usual mix passing. well generally in a slow paced game, you would want some initiative from your players to mount an attack. so the 2 mc will pass the ball asap to the playmakers, and let them do their job. thus keeping it tight at the back.
I know this is man utd. its easy blah blah, just wanted someone to test it out as im gg LLM and hopefully will be able to enjoy the same success.
lost 5 games the whole season in all competitions when i played my reserve squad, it was pretty redundant then as ive already won the league.
Very good tactic at least for 1st season!!I know..went on holiday to test was at club and clicked g.o.h. every week.Club was Breidablik(Iceland,Premier Div.,Semi-pro),tipped to finish 9th,finished 1st!Still only 16 games with this tactic, but also won icelandic cup in same year!!That makes us a double!!Will continue testing most on holiday and coming seasons..
