Currently playing FM07 still but the theory i'm trying to follow hopefully will translate across in FM08. Its to do with what is often said about managers teams and their tactics. That they are an extension of the manager themselves. I'm currently starting my 3rd season as Notts county Manager and i've tried to reshaped the team to paly in a style i would/That i like. I've achieved it by doing the following:

Season 1 - Board Aim - Invest and Rebuild the Team (Final League Position 11th)

I started out by choosing what formation i wanted to use and my style of play. Next came what base attributes every player would need. I choose 4-4-2 and the characteristics of the team needed to be Hardworking (Workrate), Strong (Strength), Organisation (Teamwork) and Determination. These would also be maintained and increased through coaching so i needed to make sure my coaches had good ratings in Tactics, Fitness, Defending and Attacking. The other base attributes i looked for was that the wingers and small striker had all the above plus pace and accelaration 14+ (All other positions aimed for 11+)

Season 2 - Board Aim - Respectable League Position (Final League Position 7th)

During the off season i reviewed the stats, average ratings and player ages to see who needed replacing. Also looked at where the squad lacked depth or needed strengthing. Examples of players that needed replacing included an Evergreen 36 year old Jason Lee and only one recognised left back in Austin McCann. I also kept the training the same but now recruited a scout to start looking for youngsters to ensure the long term future of the club.

Season 3 - Board Aim - Respectable League Position (Final League Position ?)

This season is about improving the quality of the squad and also planning for the long term. Plans included improving the youth facilities, scouting for younger players and Promotion.

So my Team/Squad need to have the following Key attributes

Determination
Teamwork
Strength
Workrate
Pace
Acceleration

On top of the standard attributes for each position the attacking players (Wingers & Fast Striker) need to have 14+ for pace and accelaration.
