Anyone having the trouble on the road I am? Instead of winning or drawing Away games where I have a one goal lead with 45 or less to play, I am losing most of them. Should be the other way around.
I have taken a number of games Away into the second half with a 1 goal lead only to watch the opposition score 2 or 3 goals! I have even taken a lead in the 2nd half only to watch them do the same thing.
I have lowered width. I have tried the dline. I have backed off mentality. I have tried all three. Any thoughts? Should I just keep attacking? Up CD? Yikes!
Please see my thread - closing down plays a big factor in my success so far. To give you a taster it involves closing down practically every outfield player.

STOP hijacking everyones threads by saying look at mine.
It isnt the solution to everyones problems so stop acting like it is.
One thing I have noticed is if I have lowered the mentality of all mids to the last notch of D or first of mixed, kept a narrow width and slightly lowered my dline from the center that there seems to be some good effects. In fact, it also helped my team counter better.
Personally I play a split mentality system, that way when i want to defend I drop them down to a normal mentality, reduce tempo, go narrow and increase timewasting.
Close down the most dangerous source of your opponent's attacks. Based on your scout information for example, if it say the wingers are the most threat, then have both of your DLs and DR's on man marking duties, but not tight marking. Set CD on 15.
Should your opponent swap their wingers, dont use individual instructions, instead, use opposition instructions to close them down always.
Tactically, this would mean that your opponent will use their DLs and DRs to bring the ball up. If so, use your MLs and MRs to close them down.

Barnsley FC stop pimping your tactic
I use a 442 with short farrows on the wingers, short farrow to the AMC spot on one MC and short barrow to the DMC spot on the other MC.
Dline is defensive with fullbacks on FWD often, cross deep
Midfielders are all on normal mentality (the dead center), all wingers instructions are mixed including xing, MCs are the only players with TTB to often. CD is normal to low for all.
Forwards are fast/tall mix.
Overall mentality, CF, CD, and Dline are normal.
Width Narrow/Normal, Passing Short/Mixed.
My goal generally is to play good D with a good shape, counter and score. Works, but holding leads has been rough.
As I said, lower Dline to Deep, Width to Narrow aand time wasting to often seems to be helping.
Home game. Late in season. Everyone is happy. Take a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute on a breakaway. I decide that it is best to not touch anything yet, so I let it roll.
They score in the 68th and 72nd. The second goal is off a cross and their player is inexplicably alone in my box.
I then get a player sent off.
Even so, I then get not 1, not 2 but THREEEEEEE breakaways and do not score. All three with my best player in good form. Seriously, I would rather just not see them than have to watch that nonsense.
Again, I am the home team.
12 shots a game, 8 on target and I am putting in 1 goal.
This should not have turned out this way. And, I know if I play it again, it will be the same stupid deal.
And, just to make it that much worse, here is my last game of the season. If I win, I make the Cola 1 playoffs.
]Pretty dominant, right?
]And, here is the result...sigh.
The funny thing about it is that I put the guy in who scored the own goal at the half and he is a youngster on loan.
In any event, I am winning a lot of Away games and really struggling to find Home form, or at least wins. I should have done better here. I dominated and peppered their keeper.
^^ I'm having the same probs with this game. Everytime I start a new game with a medium team like Udinese, Newcastle, Villarreal, Dortmund, I lose/draw so many games, and ive used loads of tactics from this forum, yet i cant seem to hit a decent run over a few months. I'm even struggling to put up a fight with top teams like Liverpool, At. Madrid, Juventus, Lyon. I don't wanna say "oh this games too hard, why cant it be easier like 07" because I know its possible to do well judging by a lot peoples posts.
