I was just wondering if anyone has had any success establishing a team to the point they dont need many transfers from other teams but can just train their own youth players and develop them into 1st team players
A bit like Man Utd a few years back in real life eh? Its not really possible because you wont get more than 2-3 first team material players per batch. So if you want to do what you mention you may need to buy young players, at least 5-6 of them and groom them in your Under 19 team, then Reserve team and eventually bring them for your main team. Even this might take a few seasons, so you will really have to be patient.
i had to do that with my inverness team cos i do not have a lot of money to spend on players but the only thing is since we are a small club big teams come in for your younger players if they are playing very well
Thanks, Im trying to do this with Blyth who I've gotten to League one. It'd probably help if we had a youth academy too though which we havent gotten up to yet.
Yeah its a blast watching a young kid you bought or developed turn into a first team player or wonderkid for your team. I also enjoy bringing in players even if im deep at a postion and getting a great transfer for him later.

I do what Arsenal do in real life and get all the really promising 15 year old and pass them off as home grown a little later own the line
I usually cant find anyone under 17 or 18 but I have found some decent strikers that are became 1st teamers and one of them has us in the L1 playoffs on the verge of moving into the Champ league. A good thing about young players is they continue to develop and as Ive moved up to diffrent leagues they continue to improve and keep the team progressing toward hopefully the prem League
Did something similar on FM07 with Arsenal (got so many youngsters in I had too many) and built a team from them. Its a really good challenging, and one of the best games I've played on any CM/FM. Oh and Christiano13, Arsenal haven't ruined the English National Team at all, yet again another mis-informed comment, no doubt after latching on to the media scapegoat-searching. If you do want to blame anyone, try the players, not a single one of them was fit to wear the shirt last night.
But back on topic (sorry for the slight deviation but the above comment annoyed me) I highly recommend doing it. And kudos for the rise from non-league as well.
