For the previous FM (2007) and possibly the one before, I used some rather smart looking 2D icons, very polished and sharp.

Sadly, lost the downloaded file and was wondering if anyone has come across them at all recently or know where I can get hold of them.

Also - would the 2007 version of these icons work on FM2008 - using the default skin?

Yes. I use icons which were made for FM2007 but work fine on FM2008. Downloaded from HERE

Just put them in the same place as you would in FM2007 except in FM2008 in My Documents. Create the folders you need if you haven't already.

Any idea of where to place 'balls' in FM2008?

Is it:

......\Football Manager 2008\graphics\pitch\balls

what name should i name the folder, and should i put it into my documents, i didnt have any trouble in previous fm, as i just replaced the folder in fm 07, but its all different now, i,m clueless.

Pimpster, when you extract the files move:

large
medium
small
.DS_Store


to:


.\Football Manager 2008\graphics\pitch\icons\kit


Create the folders 'icons' and 'kit' if need be.



Also - seems I was right about my own question re: balls. Got it working. Nice.
