Unable to change skins in preferences. Only 2 skins now show up in the drop down box (Metallic & Stelko.) The DM2008 default skin has disappeared! Currently on 'Metallic' and if I try and change to any other skin the game just locks up. Until recently I have been able to change skins with no problems. Can anyone advise me on this annoying problem. Should I reload FM 2008? And, if so, do I need to uninstall first? Also, in 'preferences'. I noticed two items I'm not sure about;
1. "Recent Folders in File Dialog" (currently set at 5.) What does this refer to and shoulI perhaps change this to say, 10?
2. "Use 'user data' folder to temporary files." This has a tick box that is currently unticked and wondered whether it should be ticked.
Finally, if I have to uninstall/re-install should I move my Graphics folder somewhere safe while I carry out this process? I have had lots of help and advice from this forum (for which I thank you guys) and, hopefully with your kind help wil be able to resolve this problem.
Close the game and remove everything from your skins folder. Start FM up again and this should force it to load the default FM08 skin. If it doesn't load then an error box should appear telling you why.
Realy Strange! I emptied the skin folder, reloaded the game and it dispayed the FM2008 skin. I then moved 3 skins back to the skin folder, went to preferences and 'Metallic' was shown as the current skin! The box did not offer any alterative skins (including the default skin!). Currently I am stuck with metallic - that seems to overide the default skin.
