Could you explain why SI have chose to work with fmf-files in the first place? What is the benefit? Customizing FM becomes less user-friendly every year and these fmf-files don't help. So I'm sure you have a good reason for using them, I just don't know what it is. Could you tell me (us) a little bit about it?
Customizing FM hasn't become more difficult. In fact it hasn't changed since FM05 until now.
I had my doubts at first but fmf files actually make things MORE user friendly than ever. An fmf is just a container.
So for example a Premiership facepack. Now with fmfs that would be just a single file, one fmf. So a user downloads that file puts it in the folder - everything is installed. Same with a skin. Users don't have to see the guts of the file. Should they want to then they can unpack it with the tool.
The delay with the tool isn't helping and it's confusing a lot of people. Once it's out though I'm sure you'll find fmf files a big help.
Thanks for the explanation. Sometimes though, I do long for those CM3-days where all you needed to do was to create a 600x90 bitmap file and you could make your own menubars. I made hundreds and they were pretty popular too, because there's not much wrong with my photoshop-skills. Unfortunately, I know NOTHING about XML, so no skinning for me...
