Ter thank you for replying, but why did Sigames coded the graphic files into FMF, if people who put costume files where use to make the changes.
Mas it may that the FMF conversion can facilitate the insertion of costume graphics at the some time in the future in my point of view at this time the fmf is only complicating things.
Many people are waiting for the tool or converter so that they can begin making skins. I for one I'm currently not playing FM2008, because i don't like the skin and the icons of the players. Thus is stopping me to enjoy the game.
I didn't like the default skins of FM2006, but there where plenty of costume skin made when i had my game of FM2006 and that didn't stop me for playing it. Thus it it is stopping me for playing and enjoy FM2008.
I have been adept of FM games since FM2005, and i can say I'm pretty discontent with this fmf thing, but a little news from part of the Sigames about the progression of the fmf converter tool would be appreciated.
I would also like to know if there are any xml program that can convert the xml coding of FM skin to view it, besides viewing it on the game itself?
Of course this is my opinion, because i don't know if other agree with me or not.

If the development of the fmf tool is slow, at least put available the skin of FM2008, without been encoded in fmf, with all the folders, so that skin makers can work on it.

i think the previous poster has a point.
if you have the files available that skinners can use why not put them up for download then when the application is ready there will be a good influx of skins.

In FM07, I took out the small player face/icons when you clicked on the drop-down menu. Will there be a way of doing the same when the fmf extractor comes out? Or can it be done already by the game automatically resizing any photo?
It's not a show-stopper by any means, but it irks me to have the default empty player icons and would rather do without. Is it actually possible in this version?

Yes should be possible by extracting the graphics archive, deleting the shadow images you don't want (and config file) and then archiving the graphics folder back up.

What really gets me is the lack of responds on the question - why have SI/Sega implemented the change to FMF files in Fm2008 and beyond?

What production, user support and technical reasons are those?

*sighs*
It makes it easier for the guys doing all the preview builds, journalist builds, beta builds, demo builds, multiple sku builds, multiple patch builds to get the various different combinations of content that is needed for each of these via a script that will build the fmf files that has the appropriate things removed or included.
With user support there were a lot of cases our QA guys were having to deal with people messing around with the game files and screwing up their game and having to be given instructions on how to fix it or how to do a clean re-install. This took up a hell of a lot of QA time that could be much better spent doing other things. This is now less likely to happen if the files aren't as easily accessed.
I can't remember exactly what the technical reasons are as it all went in one ear and out the other as I had no idea what I was being told. |
