So what graphics can I change exactly? Post #1 | | Newb

Rep Power: 0 | So what graphics can I change exactly?
Hi
I'm new to the forum and whole idea of facepacks, skinning etc. I've downloaded a facepack and I'm just wondering to what extent I can actually customise the game, is it just facepacks, skins, kits and logos or is there more I can change.
Also what do I need to do it, any pointers to tutorials out there?
All help much appreciated.
Cheers

Well it seems some people just cannot get the hang of adding graphics to Football Manager 2008. Well here is a quick guide to settle all these questions once and for all. Now this could not be easier, It is just the same way as you did in Football Manager 2007. But because SIGames have now put all the original game graphics into .FMF Files, This has caused confusion.
First of all, DO NOT put any graphics in C:/Program Files folders. This could mess up your game and this is not suggested by SIGames at all.
Q1. Where do i put all my lovely logos i have just downloaded from FMGLive?
A1. Logos go into:
Club Logos:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Club Logos
Competition Logos:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Comp Logos
International Team Logos:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/International Logos
(If any of the folders named here are not listed, Just make that folder).
Then load up your game, Go into Options/Preferences/Display & Sound. Now makes sure you UNTICK the Use Skin Cache Box, And you TICK the Always Reload Skin On Confirm Then press Confirm.
Any logos you have install should now show up in the game.
Q2. Ok, So where do i put my face packs then?
A2. Again, very easy. You just pop them into:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Players
(If any of the folders named here are not listed, Just make that folder).
Then load up your game, Go into Options/Preferences/Display & Sound. Now makes sure you UNTICK the Use Skin Cache Box, And you TICK the Always Reload Skin On Confirm Then press Confirm.
Any players faces you have install should now show up in the game.
Q3. Hmm ok this is easy, But where do i put my kits?
A3. Ok, again, just the same way, just do this:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Kits
(SS08 Kits has it's very own effect so the default kits work without that shadowy effect behind your kits. They can be downloaded Here).
Default:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Default
Clubs:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Kits/Clubs
Nations:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/Kits/Nations
Then load up your game, Go into Options/Preferences/Display & Sound. Now makes sure you UNTICK the Use Skin Cache Box, And you TICK the Always Reload Skin On Confirm Then press Confirm.
Any players kits you have install should now show up in the game.
Q4. How do i add Balls & Nets to my game then?
A4. All you do is this:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pitch
Balls:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pitch/Balls
Nets:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Nets
Players Icons:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pitch/Icons/Kit
For these changes to take affect in your current game, You may have to restart your game, Then once your game has restarted, Go into Options/Preferences/Display & Sound. Now makes sure you UNTICK the Use Skin Cache Box, And you TICK the Always Reload Skin On Confirm Then press Confirm.
Q5. What about backgrounds?
A5. Just pop your background packs into:
Backgrounds:
My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Graphics/Pictures/backgrounds
This is the way i have added all my own graphics to the game and they all work very well. More will be added later.
Thanks.

Thanks for answering but you seem to have misunderstood my question. I perfectly understand how to get the facepacks etc to work.
I was just wondering how much of the game can be amended and asking for some guidance on how to create a facepack for example, not how to install it.

| Opps! To create a facepack you need a progy called Adobe Photoshop. Once you make your packs, You must then get a I.D's of all the players faces you have made and then create a XML file.

So what graphics can I change exactly?
| Simply put; any.
The whole game is editable. Every graphic you see can be changed, and every page can be altered using XML.
Send an email to Ter requesting the FMF Tool, then unpack the skin files. Every graphic in the game will be there for you to change.

Ah yeah, except the actual pitch, which is coded in, unfortunately. If it were possible I think the waterlogged/muddy pitches would be one of the first things I'd change.
