Hello, long time Champ/FM player, although have never really used skins, so I need some help!

I have grown bored of the FM skin that comes with the game (it hurts my eyes!). So i thought id download the Steklo skin as it looked pretty ace. I downloaded it, unzipped and put it into my skins folder, so far so good, however when i go to change the skin from the preferences menu, it says its loading the images and then nothing happens, it just seems to keep loading forever, then stop "not responding"

Any ideas one and all, much appreciated, my eyes would thank you all!!

Have you put it in your My documents/Sports interactive,football manager,skins folder - NOT Programme files/sports interactive. etc?

If you have placed it in the right one, it seems everything else is correct i'm out of ideas.

Try to download it again and repeat the steps? or ask a question in the Skeklo thread, maybe the creater of the skin could help.

I stuck er in MyDoc/SI/FM2008/Skins...

is that not right, should skins be put in somewhere else?

No, that's correct.

Can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't work.

Try downloading it again and take out the old Skeklo files/folders and replace them with the new downloaded one.

First thing to check is that there hasn't been an extra level of folders created when you unnzipped. I suspect this is the problem.

it should be

"...skins/steklo/steklo.xml"

rather than

"...skins/steklo/steklo/steklo.xml"

Notice the extra level of folders on the second one. I'd also recommend the usual of unticking skin cache and reloading the game before changing the skin.

It really does sound like the issue above though.

checked the directories, no problems there, also tried unchecking skin cache and deleting and re-downloading, its weird aint it? should it take like 5 mins to load? my PC is only about 3 months old

i have the Steklo_Left skin, perhaps i have downloaded the wrong one

Aha - whena skin has a left and right version you'll need to have BOTH versions installed. It should say that in the readme if the skinner has done their job.

Skins inherit. In this case the left sided Steklo inherits from the right. The right has the majority of the files and the left uses them - only using it's own when somethign is different.
