Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default So, who else doesnt put a keeper on the bench????

I decided part way thru my 2nd season not to play a goalkeeper on the subs bench am now in my 4th season and i still dont play one on the bench - and I have not had a problem.

of course for cup finals and title deciders I always do but 95% of matches I dont bother, seems pointless as goalkeepers never get involved in any challenges which could result in either injury or dismissal.

Gives me an extra outfield player on the bench

I tend not to in the premier league, although I do regret it when my gk gets injured in the 4th minute in an important match.

I just throw Jagielka in though

For the FA and League cup I put one on the bench, if you lose that match you're out of the competition. For league matches (in England) I don't bother.

i never do - see it as a waste - except for 7 sub european games.

cue robinson getting sent off away to man city in the 5th minute. i go one down almost immediately then decide to push up and keep the opposition away from my goal. i go 2-1 up, eventually to lose 9-2

Nice....well as allways...in every cm,fm every shot on goal (when outfield player on goal)is a goal......not really realistic IMHO

I don't usually, I've only ever had my keeper sent/taken off once since I started playing FM last Christmas. Doesn't seem to be much point

Ditto. Can only remember losing my keeper a couple of times (both to injury, never had him sent off), and one of those I was able to hold out - the other I lost heavily. On the other hand, having that extra outfield option on the bench has probably got me quite a few wins.
