Hey guys,

I need your help for my tactics. I have been trying to develop a 4-4-1-1 tactic but I cannot seem to get it right. The DC, WB, Mids, WG are all playing beautifully, passing the ball short and going into open space. But for some reason, with this style of playing, my FC is left in the dust and so is now in a drought. I have tried everything to try and get him involved in my game, but nothing.

So then I thought I know, it must be the supply of balls to him. So I looked around and found a 4-3-2-1 tactics by www2 and used the positions as a template. I basically made 2 DC, 2 WB, 3 MC (one acting as AMC), 2 AM L/R, 1 FC. My thinking was that using the "Rule of Two", I would get the DC to pass to my WB, who then supplies the MC, who supplies the WG so that they can cross the ball to my FC. But once again my FC isn't getting any balls. Heck for some reasong my AM L/R aren't giving any crosses :S

So I'm completely confused. Could someone possibly look at my tactics (4-4-1-1 and 4-3-2-1

NOTE: For my 4-3-2-1 I used a few different approaches from links I found on the UNOFFICIAL TACTICS BIBLE. One of the approach is that creativity should equal CD and you know what, it actually works like wonders. My WBL, who has a creativity of ~16, was holding up C.Ronaldo AND beating both him and Neville. Also, tbh, my whole DL was playing better. They seemed to be getting into tackles a lot more.

Oh and for your information, I am trying to play a possesion/attacking football by short passing with a slow tempo game that slowly, but surely, breaks down the other team. And as for width, my 4-4-1-1 is trying to play through the centre and my 4-3-2-1 is trying to play wide and getting crosses in for the lone FC.

Thanks a lot for any inputs you can give me. I am ADDICTED to FM08 because I can't get this stupid tactics right. I've been reading so much info on how to set up my team, but tbh, some of them are contradictionary and so I have to kind of trial and error to see which one works best for my tactics. But I guess I don't know which one works best lol.

I could not open the tactics.

Anyway, the 4-4-1-1 would work for the FC only if he has very high CF and possibly free role. He needs to act as a free agent - to chose his position. Also he should create opportunities for the teammates so even if he does not score if he makes assists.

Thanks for the reply. My FC (Didier Berbatov) has a pretty high CF but I guess I wouldn't say that he was THAT good to have a free role. And I have noticed that he does get goals and generate great passing against lower teams but not higher team since the two DC tight mark him. Would it be possible to use him as a decoy against higher teams??? lol

It would seem that my tactics are working wonders with middle to lower teams, but against high teams, its just no match as previously said. The problem with high league teams, is that I can match the other team in terms of possesion, shots, shots on goals BUT, and this is a big but, I cannot score. Just recently I was playing against Newcastle and god damn did my team make Shay Given look like a god-like brick wall. The same with Man U and Van De Sar. I know these are good goalies, but they are saving goals that you wouldn't even believe.

So yeh, if people is still having trouble with opening the tactic, I will post pictures instead, but I just tried dling it and opening it in FM08 and it worked :S. So I don't.

Sorry I forgot to mention the fact that I am referring to the 4-4-1-1 tactics in my latest post since I can't get the 4-3-2-1 tactic to do what I want it to do.

/You should definitely try to use him as decoy if you can make the DCs to move out of position

The problem with playing top teams is often the morale - your players need the confidence that they can do the job otherwise they will misfire. Work on team and media talks.
