I posted this in another forum and thought I'd do so here.

I have absolutely no idea how to play this any more. 07 I could pretty much get my team to do what I wanted them to, and implement a few different styles of play in the process. However, just took on Spartak Moscow in the Champion's League, they had a player sent off after five minutes- I strolled on to win 2-0. Watched the game on full match, and try as I might I couldn't gain possession. I ended up with 45% overall, despite the numerical advantage and coasting to victory. I tried all sorts of combinations, but still Spartak knocked the ball around in their own half and in the midfield, while my players (who had been to close down everywhere) just stood off them. They aren't particularly lazy- so what's going on?
I'm not convinced that closing down has been fixed-or this is a deliberate change? How do you guys go about plaing a possession game, and does it work consistently? I'veplayed other games in the season above and had 60%+, but it seems so erratic.
Possession and the action zones screen accuracy and in fact, everything match wise in the game in relation to possession, retaining it, winning and dominating matches 4-0 but apparently only having 40% possession etc - it's all flawed.
I've moaned about this lots and it has been ackowledged as a problem.
Good to see you posting on here again mate. I am currently doing a career as Derby County, and to be fair, am not experiencing much trouble with the possession.
I will take a closer look at some of my match reports and look at the settings I'm using. Then I will post them on here for you to have a look at so you can see if i'm doing anything different to yourself.
In regards to closing down, I have found that putting players who you wish to close down a lot onto hard tackling as well as higher closing down seems to be more effective.
