Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Best way forward?

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if I could get peoples opinion on the best approach for tactics. Specifically I mean whether it is best to go for the approach of Googen and have 13 incremental tatics that you pick and choose depending on the home/away/oppo or go for maybe a home/away tatic set up.

When I first started 08 I just bunged in my tried and tested tatic that I've used and evolved throughout CM/FM and to be honest got absolutely hammered so I'm now experimenting with tactics (whilst trying to win promotion!) and would just like to hear people's views to gauge what is the best way to set up in 08.

If it helps Squad wise I'm a decentish all round Championship side that is most comfertable set up in either 4-4-2 or a diamond due to a decent DM/AM combo in the middle.

I had exactly the same problem, used an old tactic on the demo and struggled so I decided to start from scratch and go back to basics after the 8.0.1 patch.

I went for a 4-4-2 formation and a tactic that would work both home and away without any tweaking. Its downloadable on my 4-4-2 Cardiff thread in this forum.

Main idea behind it is:
1. DC's only to close down in own penalty area, full backs own half, midfielders own half, forwards all over pitch.
2. One defensive CM and one attacking.
3. Slow build up possession football as much as possible.
4. Both forwards hold up ball.
5. Mixed passing.
