Last night I was tweaking my tactic, basically setting all my attacking players to TTB = Often and all of a sudden my team transformed from playing a rather careful, boring style to a team doing one-touch, two-touch, flick ons, back passes etc. The attacking plays they came up with were much more fluid and magic, and it wasn't just a simple case of passing the ball in front of the receiver it seemed so much more.
Before I had all my attacking players on TTB = Mixed and they just transformed into a totally different team after I made this tweak. My tactic went from averaging about 10 shots at goal a match to one which totally dominated with over 20 shots at goal with about 80% on target.
Granted the team I'm using at the moment is ManU but I tested this simple tweak against some games I'd saved against ManC and Chelsea and the changes in the results I had were great. Previously I was getting results of 1-0 or 1-1 but went once I made this change to TTB for all my attackers the results changed to 3-0 (vs ManC) and 4-1 (Chelsea).
Just for some extra info too, all my attacking players are on team passing (1st notch of direct) with Tempo set to the same setting. Before I was worried about having so many players on TTB = Often as I'd seen evidence of players wasting possession but my possession statistics didn't drop (~55% possession).
How have others experiences been with Try Through Balls and how it shaped their teams play? I've just restarted a new game and will put my new tweaked tactic through a season to see how it performs further into a season.
No surprise that TTB was going so well on direct passing i set all my players trying TTB to direct passing, i find if they are set to short they play the boring ball like you said earlier.
Strange thing is, I didn't adjust my passing style or tempo, I kept that the same. I'm just glad it made a difference because I was getting frustrated with my players not doing creative attacking moves and creating chances for themselves.
I feel that TTB is an attacking instruction, however its not applicable to all teams. In LL football, that can often be disadvantageous as you end up losing possession.
To play an effective attacking game, especially if you want to exploit this, ensure that passing, decisions are good, and OTB decent (10). That will ensure that you can use this instruction to the fullest. Just my humble opinion
Well my current tactic is very attacking, probably why I'm seeing such an impact with my tactic. Basically I'm playing a 2-3-3-2 and swamping their penalty box with 7-8 players, so moving them to all TTB has helped me cut through their defences much easier.
Perhaps TTB should be renamed to Creative Passing?

Not correct, i use short passing with TTB and they play one touch football as well
