Attacking 4-1-2-1-2

This is my first ever tactical upload even though I have played FM and prior to that CM for years. It's a tactic I have evolved from 2007 to make it work for 2008 and so far it has worked very well.

I have personally tested it with both Villa & Liverpool both to great effect. Liverpool CL Final, 2nd in the league (was still tweaking it at this point) and Villa into the CL with a respectable 4th place finish.

The beauty of this tactic is the few goals conceded, it does require fast wingers, a fastish AMC (>13)and one fast striker. The team will need to have a high work rate as with the direct passing games, you dont have a lot of possession.

Key Notes

AMC - High Creativity, Work Rate & Tackling Skills (he fills the gap in midfield as well as the hole behind the strikers)

Right Striker - Good creativity, Strength and >13 passing. He plays lots of through balls, toggle run with ball if you have a good dribbler.

Left Striker - Blistering pace, good finishing a must.

Good stuff, I retrained Lucas as an DMC/AMC and played him in the hole with a barrow...worked well. Stevie G plays well in there also!

Out of interest, I tried this tactic for about two thirds of a season with Preston on holiday mode (very unscientific I admit). Anyway, PNE ended up 3rd, just 3 points off top with a game hand. Will give this some further attention...

That is good news, I havent tried it outside of the premiership yet - Where were Preston when before you went on hols?

I just started a new season from scratch, set the tactic to your one and put it on holiday with always use current tactic selected. I've been doing this casually with some of the tactics trumped up on this board just for a very very general indication of their worth. Yours has been by far the most impressive so far.

Glad to hear it, with some tweaking to match the team they should be able to win the championship then!
