as seems to be the norm when a new game comes out i spend months getting stuffed each game but refuse to use someone else's tactic.

For some reason I always think that using someone else's tactic is cheating (know its not really).

Anyone else out there just refuse to use someone else's work

Yeah I'm the same to be honest. I always prefer to use my own tactics. Not really because I consider it cheating though.

I don't think its cheating to use others' tactics, but I think that using your own tactics and being successful is much more satisfying than using someone else's.

Altough I much prefer to create my own tactic I had to use some other peoples when '07 first came out as I was getting no-where.

But rather than just downloading them and using them with no thought of how they were working I had a look at what instructions had been set and how they made my team perform. By doing (and reading some of the excellent tips on here) this I learned enough little things to start creating my own tactics.

So I don't see it as cheating if you're using other peoples tactics to gain knowledge, its more like research

I always make my own tactics. However I do come to this tactics forum to get new ideas and maybe a better understanding on some topics like creative freedom.

I agree with you - using a ready tactic is the same as buying player because somebody told you he is the next Ronaldinho in 2015 in his game...

It is much more fun to win the hard way then the "buy so and so and use this tactic" way

I agree as it has took me eons to come up with a winning tactic. Prior to this using someone else's tactic I never seemed to have the same success as I did not have the same feel of building the tactic and understanding how it played. There are loads of helpful tips on here that would help you build a successful tactic. I just hope Serpico reined in the violent tendencies and saved hi furniture!!!

Normally when i finally get a winning tactic together a new patch comes out and ruins it but if i had to choose id take a new patch over my tactics

I always try to build my own, but most of the time ends up in a dissapointment without some guidance. After reading / trying some tactics i blend it into my own view of things.

So i don't literally use someone else's tactics, but do use it to get a better understanding of the AI / view of FM.

I mean, with the old ones it was possible to create one youself. But, especially since 2007, it didn't feel any longer like i was building a tactic, but was trying to crack the AI. But i have to admit, 2008 looks pretty solid and above all more logical. Changes i make which i notify in a match don't longer get punished because of some strange behavior of the AI but actually do make more sense and do help.

So yes, i prefer to build my own one. As long it stays possible within the period i can handle it. When my mouse gets trown to a wall again because of the frustration of why the players are not doing what i tell them to do (at least in the big picture) my motivation drops to borderline behavior and believe me makes the game way more expensive then it needs to be

Anyway, i do like this engine and am building a pretty solid tactic for my team at the moment which works overall very well.

I did downloaded some tactics, just to see if it was possible with 2008 or it was just a big pain like with 2007 though. Once i saw it was possible i was happy to build my own
