I managed to get Cardiff into the Premiership in my first season via the playoffs. My second season was a real struggle, stayed up by 2 points.
I have now got a slightly better squad coming together and my 4-4-2 tactic is starting to work.
I always pick the 'for the fans' option before the game and at half time.
Current team:
GK Jamie Ashdown
RB Kevin McNaughton/Chris Gunter
LB Olivier Veigneau
DC David Braz Oliveira Filho
DC Matthew Upson
RM Jonathan Franks
CM Phil Jagielka (defensive)
CM Nuri Sahin/Joe Ledley (attacking/playmaker)
LM Lulinha
ST Cameron Jerome
ST Damien Le Tallec
Won 2 drawn 3 lost 1 so far in Prem (only loss was against Man Utd) scored 5 conceeded 4.
Since posting this I lost Nuri Sahin to injury, stuck Lulinha in the middle as the playmaker and Ledley out wide.
Lost 3-1 away at Old Trafford where I actually had more shots and then a narrow 2-1 loss away at Spurs in a game I dominated possession. These are games I would have lost 4-0 or worse last season so a vast improvement.
Just beat Everton 2-1 even with losing Jagielka to injury half way through the game.
Try increasing the team attacking mentality a couple of notches for home games and keep it on normal for away games. Some of the players also have individual settings, just leave them as they are.
I have asked the two strikers to hold the ball up, but if you have one that isnt as strong then untick him from holding ball up.
My last load of results in Prem:
Cardiff 1-0 Fulham
Arsenal 2-1 Cardiff
Cardiff 1-2 Liverpool
Cardiff 0-2 Man Utd
Villa 3-3 Cardiff (was 3-1 up with 10 to go)
Cardiff 4-0 Plymouth (FA Cup)
Cardiff 3-1 Newcastle
13th pos with 26pts after 22 games.
I am playing this tactic exactly the same home and away.
