I was looking through the league standings, and i came across something that said form (i think), and it was a bunch of roman numerals...what the heck does that mean?

Attributes - yeah I tend to think of '10' as being 'League 1-quality', '12' as 'Championship-quality', and '14' as 'good for lower-Premiership' and '16' as 'good for fighting Champions League'... keep in mind I'm talking average amongst at least ten attributes that I consider key for their position, and I typically won't 'pursue' a guy who doesn't have at least a few 'excellent' standout traits beyonnd that.
So for your purposes looking at that 14-15 range as your targets for 'will be part of my XI during next year's battle against relegation' is about right, with 12-13's as 'good enough for this year, and squad/depth players for next year' is about right.
And, yeah, I LOVE the depth.. its incredible.
What part of the US are you in?

hey guys, thanks for the explination on the roman numerals bit there Doyle. I guess it would be to get a glimpse if the team is on a streak, or rather how they are doing, outside their record.
Amaroq - i am actually in Washington DC. Though will probably be moving out of here soon.
Good to know on the attributes. I just significantly buffed up my Mids, and i think i have some good quality ones i can groom into significant attacking midfielders, though the one i really want; wont sign with me, and his club wont sell him. Ah well, what can ya do.

Anyways, keep asking questions as you have, you've been very articulate and well-mannered, so a pleasure to help out. | To be honest, that's probably the only reason I responded. It's a lot easier to bring oneself to answer questions that are easy to read, and detailed enough to be answerable at all!

Thanks, bzl, quite flattered! And I know what you mean by your last bit, couldn't agree more.
DC? We couldn't be much further apart.
On the mids, that's what I'm looking for in a creative attacking mid .. but you don't want to overdo it, or you wind up with too much creativity and nobody actually playing your system.
A lot of managers run either a diamond (DMC, AMC) or two MC's, but with one given more 'defensive' instructions and one more 'offensive'.. so those traits are all aimed for the AMC/offensive MC in my system. The DMC I'm looking for somebody hard-working, with stamina, tackling, marking and positioning, bascially a solid defenseman who can get involved in my attack, but earns his bread and butter by breaking up the opposition's midfield.

The system that i have been running is something like this
! FC FC !
! AMC !
ML MR
DMC
DL DC DC DR
Or i might run with a MC in the middle and take a defender off
The ! being the "darrows/barrows" thingie.
It seems to do alright actually, i did start off on the traditional 4-4-2, but it didnt seem as if i was going anywhere. I have been pretty much just simming the games, and paying attention to the injuries, if one picks up even a simple wound, i usually replace him asap, since i dont want it developing further.
Though I do think teams get use to your formations, so i am also tempted to switch it up here and there. Also if a match isnt going too well, i might look up the actual attributes for the opposing teams to see how i can exploit their defense or what weak links there are.
Anyway, thanks again, yo uguys are utmostly useful. Also, fyi, it is now the begining of September, and i am in third (tied but the goal differential coming into play).

est DMC I've seen in the game is Sissoko but I tried bidding for him and Milan (he's changed clubs from Liverppool) want 40mil for him.
Thats the price of excellence I suppose.

You're welcome!
That's similar to what I run - same "diamond" midfield.
In my 'attack' configuration I push 'farrows'
from ML to AML
from MR to AMR
from DL to WBL
from DR to WBR
While in my more-typical 'defend and counter' I have a 'barrow' from AMC to MC. The wingers will get plenty involved in the attack just by setting "Forward Runs Often" and "Run with Ball Normal", so you don't need 'farrows' for them as much as seems to be common.
I've also got an alternate 3-5-2 for 'all-out-attack':
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre"> FC FC AMCML MC MC MR DC DC DC</pre>
and a couple 4-5-1 variations for all-out-defense, one with two DMC's, and the other with just one DMC - instead its two AMC's with 'barrows' to MC in defense.
