Recently started my first game (having played almost all the CM/FM series from the start, with the exception of 07) and I seem unable to win away from home. I'm hoping that I can put this down to some sort of 'rustiness' in my head, in that I need to remember what to do to win on the road from a bit of an absence from the game, but starting my season with Liverpool we've now played 8 or 9 games away from home (all comps) and I think I've only won once.
Several times I've gone ahead in games, only to be pegged back. My usual tactic is a V formation, with a DM, 2 CM's, AML and AMR and a Striker - I find this allows me a good balance between defence and attack. This happens against all sorts of opposition - have drawn at Arsenal 1-1 having gone in the lead, which was a vaguely acceptable result, but have lost leads to the likes of Fulham and twice to Reading. There's also a CL problem of conceding goals (8 in 3 games away from home), but that's another issue.
Anyway, I'm just looking for some hints or tips of things to look at or try - obviously I know there's no 'magic bullet' that'll keep things tight - I've tried remaining attacking at 1-0 up and also trying to consolidate and defend a lead, neither of which seem to be working, so I thought I'd throw myself on the mercy of the forum and see if people can offer up some advice.
a common problem is that of playing away from home. one question though, do you have a formation to play away from home? if not, that is what i reccomend:attacking formation at home, defensive formation away.
hope this helps you in your moment of need
