ok, so your stuck for an effective tactic, and training blows your mind worse than a stick of TNT. look no further! i will give you some advice on tactics and training.
tactics
tactics are a fickle thing in fm08. you think that your building a masterclass, can't fail tactic, and then your team goes on a five game losing streak and ends in the relegation zone with a GD lower than Derbys. no worrys. first, pick a tactic out of this forum that looks like it will suit your team. play with it, and if it is succesful, look at the build of that tactic. see how all the sliders are lined different? the sliders are the second most important thing when choosing a tactic, second only to your formation. where alot of people go wrong with the sliders and the formation is that they pick two completely opposite things, like a 4-3-3 with slow tempo. to get these right, you have to use your manegirial brain and think about what the sliders mean, and then line them accordingly. first, dont stray too far from the tactic your'e using. use the same formation, and then move the sliders how you think they should be moved. if you get a set of better results over the next 5 games, chances are you have just tweaked it, although this is completely different to tactics building. when you have done one slider, think over the whole thing, and then move the sliders to suit your team. then you should end up playing completely different to how you were before. there is just one major flaw in this though, your individual player tactics dont match up and then you go on the same streak as mentioned above, a losing one. to make sure they stay lined up (and this will take a long time), go into every players individual tactic and modify it to suit how your team plays as a unit. if you are still not successful, take it back to the drawing board and try again. if you continue to be unsuccesful, you may have not studied the tactic you were based on for long enough.
then when you are feeling more succesful with the tactic you used, break the mould and build a new formation. dont go too off the grid, and remember what the forward arrows and backward arrows do. then align your team and individual player tactics to suit the formation and voila! if it works you have a succesful new tactic that you can export to here to help new fmers with!
training tips
training is also a fickle thing, and although it hasnt got as much of an impact as your tactic has, it is still quite important in terms of youth development and senior players keeping up physical atributes into their 30's for longer. first off, in the pre season you should train rigourously, as you need to get your players match fit for the upcoming season. so build a tactic after reading up on them that has a workload at heavy (not too heavy or it will cause injuries) so that your players will become match fit sooner. i am not very good in the way of schedules, so an addition by another more capable member would be appreciated. apart from that, injured players have no schedule, and back-from-training players have light schedules. any and all contributions are appreciated as i know i have only scratchedf the surface of this topic.
also sorry about the double post but no edit available, but in the training part i put "build a new tactic after reading up on..."
that is supposed to be build a new schedule, sorry :O
