Default Scouting Technique

Was just wondering what approach some other people on the forums take?

Personally i spend alot of time building up my scouting network, be it through careful choice of feeder club(preferring those in countries that my club currently has very little knowledge of), Employing scouts from many different countries (Knowledge base is very important when i choose my scouts), and repeatedly sending staff out to areas/country of which i have little knowledge.

It can take a very long time, however the end result is usually very rewarding. You can find some great bargains out there.

That said, only quite recently i began to notice that other clubs are picking up great buys which somehow slipped through my net. Perhaps i was missing something?

A new approach which i have just been experimenting with is highlighting players based purely on form in the "players search". As i'm sure you're aware, some searches produce such a vast amount of players that is impossible too look through them all so after setting the search parameters I used to order the results by value, then search for those whom i could afford.
However since i've been looking at form first (then taking a closer look at those who's is impressive) i've found some absolute diamonds at the very bottom end of the value scale.

Just wondering how everyone else goes about scouting? How did you find the players you mention in here?

I started as a lower league team, and sent my scouts out looking for players under the age of 23, this way, if I can win with these players, they will gorw with the club. I am now in prem league and have 6 scouts, constanly on the move. I scout everything, next team, different nations, right down to position. I guess what im saying, is be less specific about what you are looking for, and bargins will show. Bargins are generally players at clubs that havn't realised their potential, so scouts with high stats can be your best asset.

Does anyone use any other techniques not yet mentioned? Not that i really need the help.
I generally tend to do well in the transfer market, but i'm still open to suggestion. There is a chance that i could be doing something better.

What i realised, quite a while ago actually, is that no matter how good your scouts are they will always miss out a few players. The game has been made so that you have to go out and look yourself.

Anyway so here's the task. You are looking for a good young player for your team. Your board indicate that it's absolutely vital you get this right and make the best possible buy. Step-by-step how do you go about it? Go:

I used the player search to select every single player under the age of 20 that showed up. I then held down shift, highlighted them all and got the legend that is Gilles Grimandi to compile a scout report on every single one.

99% were rubbish but every 50-100 he scouted was a gem!

I usually go through most Under 21s and 19s squads and scout the players there.

Might get 1 in a million! There's always a chance!

Why would u want to know every big talent?

Ok, its always nice to snatch away a rival's biggest signing, but when i started playing this game i used to find so much talent, and not be able to resist buyin that i would end up with a team filled with over 100 players and coz of that i got in all sorts of trouble.

Nowadays i look at the team i got, decide wich kinda player(s) i need, what age and where they should be from.
I will (e.g.) send a scout out to brazil to look for an striker under 20 and one to Denmark to go find a massive Defender, just for example, then i let them run for a bit and after a few weeks i look at the results and pick my favorites for them to scout more detailed.

This way (with proper scouts) i get result + i can concentrate on the team and time will fly!

As an bonus i like to have an Assistant with good judging abb.,
When i find an player who i believe fits right into the first team, i let my assistent watch him for a few matches, he also knows the way the team works and therefore wether a player will fit in or not!

I think you have me mistaken. I'm not talking about big talents. I'm talking about really great youngsters bought for silly prices like 500k when, despite my scouting network being so vast, my scouts never stumbled across.

What i also noticed is that sometimes i will stumble across a tiny foreign team with some stupendous talents that i never would have come across otherwise, despite investing so much time scouting.

Just wanted to know if anyone else uses some unheard of technique??
