I performed really well with Man Utd in my first season. My second season hasn't been as good i.e losing matches. I havn't changed anything drastically so i'm wondering if I should change anything in anyway, but I don't want to disrupt my team tactically or in terms of morale etc as my team morale is very good.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Also is there anything you can do in pre-season that will help in the long run?
You have been reranked for doing well and you will probably find the opposition plays more defensively / counter attacking against you. You could look at going wider, slower and shorter to keep the ball and create accurate chances. If the opposition play with one man up front watch out for balls arriving for him to run towards goal and possibly set one central defender to man mark and one zonal to cover for any breakaways.
hmm ok reranking? I for one don't believe such a thing happens to an extent where it becomes a gamebreaker...this is why..
When you start out as a new manager..you're not considered a threat..the best way to play usually is to start out with a formation that is solid at the back but as attacking as possible. The AI doesn't consider you as a serious threat and will attack you nonetheless..and its not uncommon to see people do amazing well with attacking formations and then when the computer realises you do know what you're doing it takes you seriously.
So don't take this as a bad thing, but the AI realising that perhaps, just perhaps it needs to start playing seriously against you.

Hmmm that is a good point, but wouldn't it depend on how you selected the managers status.
sunday league manager through to a world class striker :/
Thanks for the replies, but what do you think I should do if anything? I'm not currently at home so I will post some screen shots tonight.
But for now I'am playing a Flat 4-4-2 attacking formation with focussing passing down both flanks and a target man of Tevez (supply of mixed and holding up ball) with him dropping back behind rooney.
I have instructions on attacking, creativity as much, short passing, slow tempo, width as wide, closing down as much (if it works), been changing defensive line a bit (currently pushing up).
Tight Marking, counter attack, target man all ticked. Should I have a playmaker and who? Also Zonal Marking.
 I can help....
I manage Dumbarton in Scottish Division Three in FM2008 and in first season i came in 2nd and now im in the second season and Im running away with the championship..... won 20 , drew 3 and lost 1 and 20 points above the second place team...
Mt tactics: 4-2-2-2 meaning attcking fullbacks....with two defensive mids and one attacking mid and either a right or left attcking mid with 2 strikers one is good with headers and another with pace and finishing.....u will sure be champions..Play direct and wide playing ..also try quick speed.
