Hello,
I asked this at another forum and didn't get very helpful answers, so I thought I'd try this one.

Say I've got the cool ass glass orb from the tutorial. Its orange. I've also got a mostly blue and black image that I would like the glass ball to be a part of, but not orange, but blue and black. Is there any way to easily save the color palette from the background image and apply it to the glass ball so that the color scheme is based on the background?

Thanks,
Bill

Why not just make the "Classy Glassy Button" again and use blues and black instead of golds and brown?

Of course, you could just use the Hue/Saturate adjustments...

Well, yes I could. I guess the important part of the question is not how to change the color, but how to keep the new colors within the background's color palette.
So, for the orangeish image, how would one go about changing the color palette to match the blueish image. Do I have map the colors manually or is there a program/plugin that will do it for me (with the precision that can only be found with a computer).

Imaging that you have 16 colors in each image. Or0-Or15, and Bl0-Bl15. Is there a program/plugin that will take Or0 and map that color to Bl0, etc?

I'm not a slacker, I just want it to look right.

Remapping colors and colorization are two different things. Just take one of the colorized buttons and try to reverse it to the original button; impossible.

You can't just simply remap colors, just look at my example.
If you were able to manually remap the beach colors to the image with the flower, how would you remap them to get a convincing result; impossible. Try it
I know, it's an extreme example, but it makes things a lot more clear.

There are many ways to do so:
- Take a Eliptical Marque tool and do a Layer via Copy, than use Hue/Saturation (1)
- If you not a slacker, you could think about brushing the areas of your image than... i dont know, try screen them or Overlay than use Hus/saturation play with settings. (2)
- Use your brain (3)
And ... Welcome to PSG

If you read up on Customizing Color Palettes, you'll be able to create your own color table to match any images you choose.

Good luck!
