I personally feel that a 4 - 3 - 2 -1 is the most succesful formation, basically a flat back four, two CMs, an AML AMC and AMR and a ST, this can be changed easily at tough away games by switching the AMC to a DMC, I have f arrows from the AML an AMR goin to the ST to offer support.

Also this is the tactic that Miles from SI said that the makers had improved as it is a more commonly used tactic, Chelsea and Barca the more obvious names. I find it better to use AML and AMR that are at least competent upfront as this helps goalswise I feel.

What do you all think? This tactic has brought me undoubted success with my Liverpool team, although some of the signings Ive made can do nothing but bring me success

There is nothing as a "best formation in the game". It all depends on your opposition, your players...

Now may I ask were this was mentioned? Miles statement to be exact? As for the best formation its hard to say since it depends if you have players to suit it. I've had success with a simple 442. It all depends on your style of play.

Hmm, well, 4321 is a formation not a tactic. A tactic is a way of playing using a certain formation, like for example, having playing a counterattacking game, based on short passing at a slow tempo, but mixing it up in midfield to inject some pace. Everything centred around 2 strong midfielders who do box to box work, pinging passes to 2 out and out wingers who do nothing but attack.

Now that is a tactic. What you have listed out, no shouted out is a formation. Its not useful information, i'm sorry to say, and like some of the others have pointed out it can actually sound pretty rude. Apologies for sounding sarcastic, you do sound enthused by this and I applaud it, perhaps if you have deployed something else that is close to performing as well as its possible you'd like to share this with everyone. In the meantime I'll be editing your post instead of closing it so it can generate discussion instead of turning into a thread where you get "flamed".

alrite people calm down, its was more a thread to give people who are looking for a bit of help on a formation to play, also the interview with miles was in zoo magazine about a month or so back, ok. BTW yeah it is a 4-2-3-1, and its the formation that I have had huge success with, as when on the ball it becomes a 4-3-3

I don´t see anything wrong in this thread, there isn´t reason to call it "stupid thread". This a PC game and could be more usseful formations according the game engine. I don´t use 4-3-2-1 already, I think that it´s something to develop. It´s to earlier to determine which formation is the best.

I find it very interesting that Miles has commented on this formation. Now that's two people who've suggested looking into this formation who's views I trust.

Looks like the good old Arrowhead will be finally making a comeback once the patch has arrived!

I used this formation with Man City first season. Finished 3rd, it is really good. DM's control possession.
