It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I think saying there are too many foreigners in the League is a cop out though. If you look at the England squad it is very very good on paper and there is certainly depth in England - especailly for strikers and defenders.

England though don't gel well together as a national side. They lack belief maybe. They don't play like a side that should be the worlds best.

Look what happened at the world cup (2002?) when Brazil went down to 10 men. England should have capitalised on thatbut instead went on to LOSE the match. That there sums up everything that is wrong with the side.

People say that lots of foreigners in the premiership means English players don't get a chance but if English players were good enough:
a) there would be less foreigners in the prem.
b) more Englishmen would play abroad.
I don't think its a case of English not being good enough, its more a case of an English player being over priced so clubs go abroad as they can't afford English talent. A top striker in Championship goes for £5 mill+ nowdays. Abraod you can get a full internatinal player for that whos proven in the top leagues and on the world stage.

The thing I don't understand is why English players are so expensive. Italian players arn't so expensive in Italy, nor Spanish one's in Spain.

I think the reason is they are actually not that common and hence because an English player is naturally worth a bit more to English clubs and is easier to handle, the price goes up more.

Regarding Championship strikers, Chopra has turned out to be a good signing lol... Being a Cardiffian (though not a big fan) I can't believe he went for that much. £4.5mil profit in one year!!!

Sven has shown against this how cheap some foreigners are. Elano for £8mil must be bargain of the summer (though hopefully Santa Cruz will be a better one )

correct me if I'm wrong but don't the Itailion clubs have strict guidelines on how many foreigners can play in their teams? Which England don't.

I think it's only the "one foreigner bought from outside the EU". I mean most Italian teams have only a handful of foreigners but Inter are a big exception - so many Argentinians and Brazilians.

They are and can be though...

The reason English players are so expensive is due to the little clubs hiking the price up as selling a player for a few million can set them up for the next 3 or 4 years financially. If you notice 90% of all the good English players come from the little clubs in the lower leagues.

Chopra was a good buy, I think hes a class player and will get 10+ goals a year in Prem. But thats what I mean, if he was an English player at a Prem club and Sunderland wanted him they'd have only had to pay what you did.

Same with Nugent, Sheff Utd tried to buy him last year we bid £4 mill they rejected saying they wanted £8 mill. For these prices I want full fledged internationals ffs

Sadly, NO. England keep going on about 1966 as well, gets boring. What gets my goat is how they are never humble before tournaments, like brazil were champions before last world cup and they were humble in the media. But with Englands it's we have best players , we can go all the way, blah blah.

I do support them and my home country(nigeria) but they are poor at da mo apart from gerrard and Joe cole my favourite players.
