It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

disagree with this a bit. now if u took rooney and gerrard we should still be a quarter final side now get the right manager who can make us a solid side throw them in then you have 2 world class players who can change a game and push us into the later stages
We shouldn't be a quarter final side imo, what gives us the right to claim that? Just because we got world class players at club level doesn't mean we should be at International level. On our day we can be world class yes, but the players have no drive at all and that wont change until someone has the balls to drop players who perform badly.

For a world class international team you need atleast 6 or 7 players who can play consistent at this level and give there all in every game not just the big ones. While Rooney and Gerrard are class aparts, itsn not enough on the international stage sadly. Club level yes but no on the bigger stages.

Just my opinions though

Prince_Capri - You finally gonna get it on with her?

As for my plans watch and see as much football as I can. Thats pretty much me done til May nexy year

Glad you are sorted then! My ex-flatmate was like that. With a beer in his hand, he used to lie down on a couch by himself, and complain about England doing crap

still fell u can win stuff at international level if you have a team that plays like one throw in a few world class players as well then you must have half a chance

every tourny you get a so called smaller nation do well greece, denmark, croatia(well not stitcly true very good side 98) south korea 02 australia 06 pushed italy all the way

Yeah but time to find a better keeper.... for that matter a better gaffer too.

Micah Richards will be pushing hard soon to take either Terry or ferdinands spot, though I guess he'd sit nicely in at rightback too.

Well as England performances go it was quite good.

As a normal team's performances go it was mediocre bordering on poor at times with the occasional light.

Ok so we expect a bit much I think but loosing to essentially the German 3rd team isn't great if England are so good.

People say that lots of foreigners in the premiership means English players don't get a chance but if English players were good enough:
a) there would be less foreigners in the prem.
b) more Englishmen would play abroad.

I think tactics are a problem. The play far too deep and conservatively, and too spread too. At times in possession Terry and Rio are barely outside the 18 yard box, so Lampard has to come deep and then the gap to the strikers is too long. When they position themselves right and get compact enough as a team they actually play good football.

Who's better than Robbo atm really? All English keepers are injured atm, id have like to seen Foster get no1 Jersey this year if he could have got a regaul club spot Id still take Robbo over James any day of the week. As soon as James came on I felt nervous and was waiting for him to make a mistake. I can't be doing with this

I'm guessing Micah will be the new RB, I can't see a manager dropping Rio or Terry unless there banned/injured. Id rather have him at RB anyways as hes got decent feet and can dribble.

I still think England should play 352 0r 343 instead. We got too many attacking players to play 442 and we'll never get the best out of em all unless they drop a few of them.
