against you I'm really struggling. I've started FM08 as Hereford and im currently near the end of season two, I won the CC League 2 in my 1st season which was a great achievement and now with 12 games left I'm top of league one despite being favourites for relegation, so on the face of it all is well....however!
I'm now finding sides coming to Edgar Street and being defensive, flat 4-4-2 deep and no arrows etc. I play a 4-4-2 and a lot of my success has been working hard, closing down and quick strikers, now the onus is on me to attack I tend to struggle and have been done by two of the bottom four teams at home, counter attacking me and I barely create zip!

I've thought of 3 at the back, playing a playmaker etc just wondered what others no doubt in a similar position thought may work?

In these cases I play short and fast passing, it works for me. I have 3 central midfielders to go with it, and only 1 striker. It even works against narrow formations. See, for example, the "play the Arsenal way" thread.

If in some game it isn't working, in the last 10 minutes I play a wide 4-4-2 with fast and long balls. Here, everyone is on All-Out-Attack except the DCs and maybe one midfielder (to take care of the counter attacks). This one works often too, I 've scored dozens of goals after 85'!
