After countless times of trying to create a league winning tactic i am now on the verge on breakdown. I have downloaded and tried plenty of Tactics off of this forum.... the latest tactics i have used and had fail on me are
I am currently Sheffield Wednesday in my first season currently mid table in the Championship. Now i dont know why but what ever squad i pick, what ever tactics i use, what ever tweeks i do they never seem to be "good enough". I can manage a win every now and again where i absolutely annihilate a team but only score 1-2 goals when i have had 20 plus shots on goal (it's football i know but surely sometimes that isn't realistic.)
I dont seem to be able to get a tactic together that is a consistent thing throughout the season. I believe my side is good enough to get in the top 3 and stay up there but i dont seem to be able to get on this run.
my problem is that i cant seem to get on a winning streek with any tactic i use. I cant score, i do concede too many and i dont seem to have enough chances. I just want a tactic that would suite my players. How do I judge a tactic against my team?
How should i change things to make me a hard team to beat etc etc etc.

How to get a tactic to work for your side? FM2008 Post #5
It seems that you may have similar problems to myself. This is what I am just beginning to work on. To start, pick one of the default team formations. One which your team is easiest to conform to.
Next, use the in game default player instructions only. On the team instructions screen, put time wasting on low [3 or 4] and tackling on easy. Put all the other sliders onto the centre line on each of the sliders.
Now play 5 or 6 matches without changing anything, regardless of the outcome. I am now finding that I am not doing so badly and that the information given on the match information screens gives an indication of what is required to improve your situation.
I hope that this is of some assistance to you. Best of luck.

I was much the same as you, trying tactics with no success, trying my own also with no success until yesterday where i created one that seems to work http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...7/m/7532058163 no guarentee it'll work for you of course but sounds to me that like me before, you have nothing to lose, feedback so far has been positive.
By the way, this is on patched version, i would highly recommend patching as the unpathed version has a massive closing down bug in it.

It is a MUST to use individual player instructions as it being a computer sim and there is no "common sense" factor. You can't just set an overall mentality and expect your team to invoke it positionally. If you set something like CF or CD to 15+ across the board, I can see a team becoming a mess as everyone scurries around without caring much about teamwork.
In any case, your tactic seems WAY too offensive and I would guess that you have a very hard time retaining posession. Unless your DMC's and FB's are insanely good, your midfield is positioned way too high. From the looks of it, you have a more direct/counter approach, but you have CD set to like 16! The whole point of countering is to allow your opponent on to you. Mix that with a direct attack, you really need to keep your form at the top so there's proper targets to pass to once the ball is taken.
A simple solution to try...
Bring your AMR & AML down with short farrows.
Take off the farrows on the DMC's.
Set most of your team to 5 on CD, an 8 for DMC's and FB's and a 13 or so for the AMC.
That's just the very tip of the iceberg, but you may have SOME success this way. You REALLY need to set every individual player's instructions in a very detailed way.
