It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Thanks lol no wonder i just lost against Chelsea the 3 times i tried the tactic?

Trying again with your counter tactics but Chelsea score everytime and normally 2/3 goals in the first half.

I have tried using a few tactics now and everytime I do Chelsea score within 5 mins.

Umm need to rethink what tactics I need to use against them at their home ground? maybe I am destined to loose.

I note that you use your tactics mainly in Spain ( i think- apologies if wrong) have you tried any English premier clubs as I am not getting far with the tactics against Chelsea...though that is more likey to be me.

thanks
K

Food for thought though

I havent really played in the premiership, but maybe you should try using a possesion tactic with 5 midfielders and try and keep the bal away from chelsea add me on msn and il talk ou hrough it.

BTW burscouh are in the COnf north

and Iuano are brazilian second division

Do you notice any weaknesses to this approach?

For example, by playing with different mentality ranges did you find that your team were exposed at all?

Surprisingly not, i think the main reasons for this though was he fact that i always had a Dm with low normal o even defensive mentality so there is always 5 defending the dm usually has direct passing aswell so the front 5 are always in reach of his passes. In more defnsive tactics i have at least one other player on normal mentality aswell so there are players defending.

Thumbs up for taking the time and effort to write what you have done so far.

What are your ideas on:

Marking: Zonal/Man Tight/Loose
Offside Trap
Target Man or not
Counter attack ticked or not

Cheers.

1. DCs have man marking, i sometimes have wingers on man marking aswell and occasionally the whole midfield on tight marking.

2. I play the offside trap regularily mostly in attacking tactics though.

3.I dont play with a target man this year, as i have found that they are not as exeptional as last year.

4. I never tick counter apart from the Counter tactic occasionally.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't having a go earlier

I just think that it would be even better if you provided some of the reasoning behind why you have chosen the setting you did.

Thanks

Nah not me

To be fair I have read so many threads lately on a whole range of FM topics.

I'm really interested in the essentials of tactics and understanding the building blocks.

Ultimately it is my belief that their are situations where the whole spectrum of tactical options can be utilised for success.

It's just a case of identifying patterns that can be applied in a cohesive manner.

That is why I am interested in you tactical choices and what drove you to make choices.

Sorry to butt in but I'm gonna trow my 2 cents. I always play my back 4 on tight zonal marking! Never play offside trap and never tick the target man box, but my supply is set to feet! Now....about counter attack....I've found out that if you have fast wingers/forwards (I always like to have/use attacking players with 15+ on pace) and midfielders with 15+ on passing and creativity/decisions then CA is very deadly and usefull. In my current game I score almost every game at least one goal from counter attack. My team mentality always stays attacking - first or second notch - and CA is always ticked on. Short passing, slow tempo, normal width, CD=12, DL=12! That's it
