Mate I havent played him as yet, but just had a look at his stats so try to set:
FR - often
RWB - rarely
LS - mixed/often (up to you)
TB - rarely
CB - rarely
I wouldnt recommend having him "hold up ball" as he's not particularly strong (stat at 15 in my game). You just bascially have to judge from his stats. If his dribbling stats are not too high (17+
imo), then I wouldnt have have him run with ball too often. Forward runs are a must for him with his finishing, off the ball and heading stats. Long shots again depends on the stats (I'd want my player to have it at 16 or more to put the bar on "often"). And I never have my striker send in too many crosses or through balls. Thats the work of your wingers and CM/ CAM's
imo. So try that and see if it works.
It might also be that he's not on a proper training schedule. Try to put him on an individual one and concentrate on his strengths and train him to it. He'll probably be low on morale with just 1 goal so give him a little time to come through with the new tactic as well. Dont be hasty in offloading him. If he still doesnt perform in the current season, try to play around a little in the pre-season matches. Once he gets used to it he'll start scoring. Oh and make sure you have some quality wingers who can put in decent crosses for him to score from.
