Just started up a game as Ajax now, as it was one of my most enjoyable games back on FM07. I have to say im really disappionted with the squad. Im going to be playing a narrow diamond so time to look at what ive got to work with.
DEFENCE:
Stam and Vermaelen are to players but there is no backup. Maduro has poor defensive stats but will be my DM, Heitinga cant win a header, and Schilder is not good enough. So here i will mainly be looking for good youth as backup and ready to step up to fill Stam's boots.
Emanuelson is good at attacking but im unsure about his defensive stats. I can cope with this but will need a more solid backup for him. Ogarau is a good all round full back, Heitinga as backup, im happy there.
MIDFIELD:
Oh dear, oh dear. Maduro is a good DM playmaker but i have no defensive option here. There is not a single good MC in the squad and i need 2 hard working players who can tackle well. Gabri will be retrained as this is his best position
IMO. I will need about 3 more MC's for my team.
Attacking-wise, Bakircioglu will be re-trained as an AM. Again, the team has no backup here so will need another player bringing in.
ATTACK:
Theres lots of options, but not much quality. Huntelaar will be my target man, but id rather him have more of a free role to lurk and get goals, so i'll be looking for a young target man for the long term. Mitea will play with him to add some pace, but im not sure about his goal scoring skills. Luque and Manucharyan arent good enough so will be replaced for someone better. Suarez will provide cover, we'll see how he develops.

Im struggling to find some MC's who fit the bill and are available. The main stats needed for these are stamina and work rate. But of course they need to be able to tackle, pass, have decent movement and be able to cross a little bit. The only players ive found will cost too much so i'll keep scouting. I'll give an update on my transfers towards the end of the window.
