This is my first time playing a FM game after playing only CM. I'm playing as Southend and haven't really had any problems up until now.
I won League 1 on my first season and gained promotion, in my second season I finished 13th in the Championship and avoided relegation.
Now I have a stronger team, better players and what would seem to be better strikers.
So far though, in five league matches I've only managed to get 5 points (1 win, 2 draw, 2 loss).
I had some success in my first two seasons with the tactics I had been using, but now it seems they won't work at all. I defend well still, majority of the time atleast. But when it comes to goal scoring, my team doesn't seem to know what to do. I create good chances that tend to end up in row Z etc.
This is my current team, my line-up and how I play them, I'm really just looking for advice or even a tactic that will make my team function better and get back to winning matches, since I was really going to try for a play-offs place with my new team.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll be tweaking to see if I can find anything to make it better for myself.

You really need to give some specific information here. What problems you face, what you need improved? The people here need to know what to help with.0
Otherwise, you can browse the forum for tactics posted by others. However the rules do not allow to ask for tactics
The best advice I can give you is to check the Unofficial Bible:
It is full with instructions, tweaking suggestions etc. Great tool! There may be a lot to read but it's worth it. My computer is slow, so I read while I wait the game to load the next day ...
good luck

Without seeing further instructions I would say the formation looks alright for home games. Maybe you should shorten the arrows on the wingers and get rid of the arrows on the full backs and central midfield for away games - also tick counterattack for away games.
When playing at home you could try playing mixed / through the middle and when away play down the flanks - good luck.

Switch Duran and Bratu. You got seven players attacking and 2 defending maybe 3 depending on how you set up Bratu. That is suicide. Those tactics have somehow got you promoted probably with a coronary!!! lol You dont need forward arrows like that to make players run forward. Them arrows just tell them to move to that position when you have the ball and then you still i bet have more runs forward ticked in the box. How can any play build up with people running away all the time? take the arrows off the full backs definetely The wingers can be left like that at home games its your call on sibierski. Thing to note is that everytime you have the ball you are asking the wingers to run a long way EVERYTIME, they will need high stamina to last.

Looking at the names in your staring XI it looks like you have an ageing side. Especially bearing in mind this is 2009. With older players and so many Farrows I'd imagine you get exposed quite easily defensively.
Personally with those players I'd be looking to play a more controlled possession type game rather than the all out attack it appears you are using.

Main problem is scoring goals, never really get many even if I create a lot of chances. Scraped wins or got 1-1 draws or 0-1 losses as of late.
I'll remove the arrows and see if I can get anything better from that, I did kind of wonder why my wingers were always knackered. It also seemed that defenders would pass down the wing for it to go off for a throw in (possibly because of the wingers always making those forward runs?)
Playing a possession game does sound better, I did go for an attacking mentality as that is what was lacking in my team, but I have now seen it doesn't work too well.
I'll try to put the advice given so far into a tactic and see what I can do with it, thanks again.
Any more screenshots needed that you guys would need to see? Assenuma mentioned I didn't provide enough info.
