So far I have played 5 games this season and Kaka has had a rating of 6 in each. I expect a lot more from my best player. He plays as AMC behind a lone striker. Here are his instructions:
mentality-14
creative freedom-17
passing-6
closing down-10
tackling-normal
forward runs-often
RWB-often
long shots-mixed
TTB-often
Free Role enabled

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can make him up his performances?

You could try to set his tackling to easy and you must not give him forward runs often...as by doing that he won't get the ball on his feet too much so he won't be able to do his magic....set it to rarely or even mixed so he can get the ball to his feet and bring it to the lone striker or create something for himself...
