Hello mate, funny nick (I know what it means).
I've just finished my first season with Fenerbahçe. Won the Super Cup, Turkish Cup and Turkish Superleague without losing a single game. Reached the Semi's of the Champions League after finishing the Group Stages with 11 points, ahead of Werder Bremen, Real Madrid and PSV. Knocked out Valencia in the second round, Lazio in the quarters, beaten by AC Milan in the semis. Pretty impressive, eh?
I played a very attacking 4-1-2-1-2 formation. I sold Kemal Aslan and Colin Kazım Richards to fund the purchasing of Mehmet Topuz and Gökhan Ünal from Kayserispor. My ideal starting eleven was as follows:
--------------Volkan Demirel------------
Gökhan Gönül -- Edu -- Lugano ---- R. Carlos
--------------Mehmet Aurelio------------
----------Appiah -------- Mehmet Topuz------
---------------- Alex------------------
-----------Gökhan---------Kezman-------
Having said that, the likes of Ali Bilgin, Önder Turacı, Deivid de Souza and İlhan Parlak provided more than adequate backup power throughout the season. As I said, the attacking mentality was just a couple of notches below "all out attack". Everyone except the AMC (Alex) closed out the opponents. Centre-backs played man marking, the rest zonal. There was no target man or playmaker. The full backs played normal, with frequent forward runs and crossing centre. Team mentality was mixed. The DMC was very defensive. The MC's shot a lot. Basically that's it! Fenerbahçe is quite good - I hope they won't try to fix it during the patch.
