Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

After one of my previous posts in McNugget's tactic thread, i told you about a training schedule for FM2007, that I'm currently using for FM2008.

A lot of you guys were requesting the schedule, but since it's not mine, I'm unable to upload it. However, i was able to find it, so here you go. Good luck!

Matt's training

Also, I found out that it works great to combine the schedule above, with this guy's GK training:

Sora's Super Training

Only thing you need from the last schedule is the Goalkeeping special training, the rest you take from the Matt's which includes both senior and youth schedules.

Hope this helps!

Btw, here are some results after two seasons, currently on the begininng of the third. Krul has turned out pretty good already, and Lauri Dalla Valle will work wonders once he grow out of the youth schedule (which focus heavily on the Physical Attributes).

Just one thing to say, compare his age and Physical stats !!

Tim Krul (GK)

Lauri Dalla Valle

Just to make it clear, I'm not under any circumstances taking credit for any of this, everything goes to those making it.

However, I would appreciate feedback from those of you that has decided to try the schedule combination, and would like your opinions

Jamo-Spurs - Thank you. I've been using this combination for a long time, with great success. Looking forward hearing more from you

theboydonegood - No.I do not cheat. But, by looking at the effects, I can understand why you suggest that.

eekers - I've used them with both pre patch and post patch. The Screenies above is, however, with the beta patch installed.

don_revie_legend - Ok. Well, she did a good job then.

Also, while I still remember it. Please have a look at this, and memorize it when you set up you training schedules.

Training Guide 2007

Quote:
Staff Skills and star ratings
The following is what a coach will need to give you a "5 star" rating in a training area, note that some areas require coaching ability in more than 1 area above a certain amount, and requires 1 area high, and 2 areas combined above a certain amount ( a "+" denotes equal to or greater):

* Strength - Fitness 18+
* Aerobic - Fitness 18+
* Goalkeeping - Coaching Goalkeepers 18+
* Tactics - Tactical 18+

* Defending - Defending 20 and Tactical 10+ or
* Defending - Defending 19 and Tactical 14+ or
* Defending - Defending 18 and Tactical 18+

* Ball Control - Technique 20 and Mental 10+ or
* Ball Control - Technique 19 and Mental 14+ or
* Ball Control - Technique 18 and Mental 18+

* Attacking - Attacking 20 and Tactical 10+ or
* Attacking - Attacking 19 and Tactical 14+ or
* Attacking - Attacking 18 and Tactical 18+

* Shooting - Technique 20 and Attacking 10+ or
* Shooting - Technique 19 and Attacking 14+ or
* Shooting - Technique 18 and Attacking 18+

* Set Pieces - Technique 20 with Mental and Attacking = 30+ Combined (eg 20+10, 15+15) or
* Set Pieces - Technique 19 with Mental and Attacking = 33+ Combined (eg 20+13, 17+16) or
* Set Pieces - Technique 18 with Mental and Attacking = 36+ Combined (eg 20+16, 18+18) or
* Set Pieces - Technique 17 with Mental and Attacking = 39+ Combined (eg 20+19, 20+20)

Finally, you can use the "Coaches" option in the Training menu and either "Auto-Assign" all your coaches to training areas, or do it yourself. Generally, the AI will do a reasonable job of allocating coaches, but doing it yourself can give you some important gains in star rating as well as workload.
I know this guide is for the previous version of FM, but there's no difference to FM08. Instead of 5 stars (max. in FM07) you now get max in FM08.

Good Luck!

training schedules goes here:

CDocuments and Settings\ <your name> \My documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\schedules

If you do not have the schedule map, start up FM 08 click training senior -> schedules -> edit schedules... -> import

Cancel everything, and go back to:

CDocuments and Settings\ <your name> \My documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\schedules

*You will now have a schedule map, which have been created automatically. Just cut and paste the schedules you have downloaded to this map.

Next, go in to FM08 -> training senior -> schedules -> edit schedules... -> import
and you will see the schedules

Finally, import all of them (both youth and senior, and Sora's) and press OK. after that you just put your players in the appropriate positions

Hope this helps you out
