I do not put my players on any form of pre-season training, I just let them do the schedules above. The only thing I've done in FM is arrange some more friendly matches (maybe two three-days tours to USA and Japan).
The reason for this, well it's simply a little trick you can do to speed up the improvement of "understanding level" (which you can find in one of your assistant manager's reports).
My players' fitness level always stays somewhere between 90%-98% throughout the season.
You say that you struggle with you players fitness level, and I assume thtat you refer to the percentages i just described above?
I cannot stress the importance of "coaching attributes" enough. I'm not saying you haven't done this, but you need to spend some time looking for coaches that give you 7 stars (or atleast the closest to 7 stars you can sign)
Also, you need to have the max of physios allowed in your squad (I know there are some great free agents you can sign).
Other than this, I know there are some threads in here, which currently discuss "the drop in fitness level" in FM08, in comparison to FM07.
Please let me remind you though, that I have not created these schedules, and can only defend the combination through my experiences with them.
AS for this, they were created for FM07, and for all I know, SI can have adjusted the training values/weigths in this version, so that the combination won't yield the same positive increases in FM08 as in FM07.
However, I expect that their next patch (full release) will fix (or atleast adjust) the problem of your players' tiring out all the time.
Hope this helps you out!?
