I know there was some discussion on this forum for 07 about splitting the mentality of your two central defenders. I believe that CD was also adjusted to get them playing in tandem.
I was wondering if anyone has explored this for 08 and what your thoughts were. I've been toying with it with a League 1 side with limited success. I set one DC to Mentality of 3 and the other to 6-7. I also increased the 6-7 guy's CD to 8. The other DC has a CD of 3, to match his mentality.
What I've found is that it is pretty much a given that one or both of my defenders will get split by a killer through ball. Almost every game.
Is this the problem with split DCs? Is there a way to fix this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Note: The rest of my tactic is pretty standard: 4-4-2, farrows on the wingers.
After posting I've played a few games with my MCd dropping back (barrow) from the middle when I lose possession of the ball. It seems to be curtailing most of the through balls as you said.
