Cheers. Will try it in conjunction with my own tactic.

Great tactic overall! Thanks to bRAzIL, brilliant work.

Currently I am using this tactic for BSN team-Leigh (Media prediction is 20th). I made a few tweaks based on individual player and overall team ability.

I found out some key settings must be stressed out.
1.TM’s setting (especially few FWR, often TTB and short passing style)
2.AML/R diagonal arrows.
3.Two MCs, AML/R and FC’s close down.

The TM’s setup let him drag one of your opponent DC out of position sometimes, and make your AML/R’s FWRs more effectively. Normally this will create a one-on-one goal chance, especially in counter attack situation. Two AML/R’s diagonal movement confuses AI and will be a compliment for the lone striker, as they always runs into the space between opposition defences. And last, if you played lower league before, you will know that most of players are less skilful and less concentrated, and they always make mistake at their own half, that’s where the close-down works well. Attackers put more pressure in midfield and opposition half, more chances will be created.

There are a few drawbacks though. AI teams always swap position, so man mark is not a good idea for me. Probably because my defenders don't have good attributes to fulfil the task. Also this formation is not very effective when against formation with three defenders and two wing backs. I hope I can get some advice on these problems.

The first season finished 10th-18 won, 4 draw and 20 lost. I didn't sign any player; only use the players I have. I am pleased with this result because most teams in the league are more superior to mine. The second season I signed a few players who I used my scout to watch them for last season. Most of them are offloads or released from L2 and BSP (they have no intension to join my club in the first season, but they have to get a job after released, don't they? ^_^). My team got promoted with 30 won, 7 draw and 5 lost. I was really impressed. During the second season, my team became more favourite, I tweaked the passing style, tempo, and width to short. That brought me more possession and allowed my team control the game better. Currently playing in BSP sitting in 4th with 18 games played, I signed some players as same as last season criteria.

This tactic, as bRAzIL said, is a counter attacking style. I think it works better for weaker team, and it does. I will continue use this tactic and see if it works for me as a better side in the league.

PS: I’m still new to this game (started to play a few months ago with my friend’s 07, decided to buy 08 afterwards) and need to learn a lot. The one thing and the only one I am sure is that there is no universal tactic in this game (probably it is very obvious for most of FM managers), and if so, what fun is that?

I just didn't find a good tactic for FM2008 and was about to give up. But then i tried your tactic Smile

Won 4 games in a row with liverpool. Won 7-2 against Arsenal. My best target man is not crouch or huntelaar but torres.

Only problem i have now is to hold a small win. I was 0-1 ahead to bolton but at the end i lost because of there attacking approach (4-2-4). Pulled wingers en cm one line back en dm arrow backwords. But that wasn't enough to stop them. any advise how to defend a small lead?
Yes, mam mark (specifically) the two wide men when they switch to 4-2-4. I have had success diing it this way. </BLOCKQUOTE>

DL and DR man mark or DC man mark

Good tactic.
Unbeaten in 16 league games!

Seems to be a decent tactic.. Was playing with a 4-4-2 system with Liverpool in an online game. Was struggling winning some but losing the same amount. I was 12 points behind Chelsea but now that ive installed this tactic i went on a 7 game winning streak taking me 6 points behind and right back in the race. Seems to be a wonderful tactic.

I have also seem a lot of cards in my two central midfielders. I rotate van der Vaart, Elano, Michael Johnson and Lulinha and Elano is my most booked player, maybe the highest in the prem, he's usually on the left side of mid. With Lulinha who can go on the right and Johnson who usually goes on the left both reaching the yellow card limit. I think van der Vaart did to.

They do get pretty tired quickly aswel, so I would suggest having a good depth in midfield.

Since I've started playing with this tactic i'm unbeaten in 4 including a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea who were on fire until then. I dominated them from start to finish but as usual I got hit with a sucker punch and they gained an undeserved point. Beat Villa 3-0 at home even after having a player sent off in the 7th minute. Fabregas is finally starting to dominate midfield and Hleb is playmaking for fun as well as scoring. Love it so far!
