Default One defeat in 15 with this 4-4-2, like to try?

When it comes to tactics I am certainly no wizard. I made myself a reasonable 4-4-2 in 2007 but that is totally useless in 2008.

I wasnt far from throwing the disc out of the window but I tinkered about with my old 4-4-2 and came up with this :

WEST HAM HOME 08 V2 West Ham Nov 2007.ta

it's about 3 quarters of the way down the page on http://fmdownloads.net/

4-4-2
Attacking Mentality
Normal Creative Freedom
Short Passing
Slow Tempo
Normal Width
Closing Down Whole Pitch
Pushed Up Defensive Line
Hard Tackling
Mixed Focus Passing
Zonal Marking
Target Man Supply to Head
Play Off Side

Obviously player instructions differ.

I have my Target Man on the left and play balls to his head. My wide men have farrows up the line and my left CM has a barrow to the DM position.

The team I play is :

GK Green
RB Neill
LB McCartney
LCB Breno
RCB Ferdinand
RM Faubert
LM Ljungberg
DM Parker/Mullins
CM Dyer/Noble
RF Bellamy/Danny Haynes
LF Ashton/Kiki Fonseca

It's very early but after my early bad results with another formation this tactic has given me the following results.

BLACK 2 WHU 3 with 10 men for an hour.
WHU 1 DER 1
A VI 1 WHU 3
WHU 3 FUL 1
BOL 1 WHU 3
WHU 0 EVE 0
WHU 4 M CI 1
ARS 3 WHU 0
S WED 1 WHU 1 CUP
WHU 1 PORT 1
WHU 3 S WE 0 CUP
MID 1 WHU 2
SWAN 0 WHU 2 CUP
WHU 2 SUN 1
NEW 0 WHU 5

Not fantastic and as I said very early on using it but it is certainly an improvement on the results I was getting.

One defeat in 15 with this tactic but despite Bellamy scoring for fun Ashton hasn't hit the back of the net for 8 games.

Pleanty of assists he has however so if anyone actually tried this tactic out can they give me some feedback on any tweaks you may have made to improve it?

Can you give some more info on what ajustments you make for away games, defending leads or chasing a game.

Played a couple of friendlys so far and it looks promising. But away to Man Utd the defense fell apart....a 5-1 loss. I know the defensive line is too high, but any other info you have on away games would help.

I'll continue to test and feed back.

Too be honest I haven't really tinkered with it away as I had been doing quite well so didn't really need too.

I seem to come out of the blocks quite well so if I get a goal up away from home I will just take the farrows off the wide midfielders.

Against Newcastle I went one up and took farrows off, decreased Team Mentality to normal and put counter attacking on and ended up 5-0 winners.

If I am behind I go more direct on the passing and curve the right midfielders farrow in towards the penalty area. That seems to work quite well using Dyer as he arrives late in the box.

My main problem is that whilst Bellamy is Ashton isn't scoring, although he makes a lot of goals and his ratings are good so not sure what to tweak there?
