ive tested this tactic for a while with bolton, and ive found out a few things.

1) As an FC it is best to pick a quick striker with decent heading ability. (works with anelka or owen)

2)for the two wingers, crossing is not so important. I seem to notice that most of my goals come from crosses from my wingbacks, or throughballs from the AMC

This is a great tactic with tons on potential. Great job!

I have downloaded both Viscous and Quattro tactic and note with interest that they both use hard tackling throughout the team apart from the DCs- is where a particular reason for this as I have just had 6 bookings in my first friendly using Viscous?

I've given it a go and it doesn't work for me - Sevilla. Used it with 2 games, both lost with barely any occasions to score so... am back to my old one which works for me :-)

I can't say that this tactic is good. This is my overall criticism:

1. 3 players in the tactic has a free role. A free role doesn't suit every player, and many players can act confused with it.

2. I don't think the defensive that comes with the tactic has any grounded theory behind it. For exemple the defensive line is low while the pressure is high. This will cause a stretched team throughout the pitch. Also, there isn't any good defence at the wings, if you're up against a 442 with good wingers playing as MR or ML you will be cracked as they have a lot of space to act.

I was bottom of the premier league with blackburn in season 3 with 10 games to go. i changed to this tactic and i managed to steer clear of relegation, i was over come with joy.

Yes. AS the mentality is normal, it doesn't cause any problems home oraway. You can use a target man if you have a player who deserves that.

1)Yes, quick one would make it better. I have Uche now, who scored 10 in 10.
2)As they have free role, they don't usually prefer to go byline to cross.
Player with good Creativity and Passing would play like a God in AMC position.

Defenders can loose their man easily if they have hard tackling. They need to focus on staying in front of the balla. In FM 2008, players don't prefer to tackle and get the ball as much as previous version. When they have normal tackling in midfield. they stand and watch the opposition pass around. Therefore, they have hard tackling.

Sevilla is a classic 4-4-2 team with no players to fit Free Role/AMC positions. You need to get a good AMC.

I would advise you to use it in a game and see it yourself. In FM 2008, most of the FM theories we had from previous versions doesn't work.
1) I was thinking like that before I tried. I used Kalu Uche, Natalio, Corona like decent AMs and Almeria finished the La Liga as 4th. Kalu Uche is a decent winger, but with Free Role, he scored 8 goals and made 10 asists. I've even used Dalla Valle who is 16 and he scored 4 in 10 games. Free Role makes players perform much better no matter what their position is. Any AMC seemed to work for me up until now.
2) I think Closing Down issue in FM 2008 has no theory behind it. New sliders of "Own Area, Own Half, Whole Pitch" is not same as the Radius theory of FM 2007. I like defending deep. I hate fast strikers go behind my defance. I've used lower Closing Down in previous FM series, but in FM 2008 they just stand and watch if I mark closing down as Own Area. I think, the first 1/3 of the closing down slider is not working actually. Even when their closing down is exactly the half of the sliders, my DCs have between 2 and 2.5 tackles average. So, I add 1/3 of the slider to the logical closing down theory.
Tactic is actually working great against 4-4-2. DMC's went to each side to defend against those.

Great reults mates.

My tests:
I finished my season with Almeria as 4th. I've lost Cope Del Rey in the final against Real Madrid on penalties.
Then, Villarreal offered me job. Although chairman sold Matias Fernandez and Tomasson, we started just great 9 wins and a draw in 10 games.

I came 2nd in the Championship with Norwich using this tactic but in the Premier League cant even get a point and this is after 10 games.
